I would love some hooligan to make lots of noise next to my resting place... being talking it over today with the Mrs.... and a have a feeling that if I'm not careful I just might end up in the cat litter....

Thanks, yes they are a bit mental when wound open, was originally looking at SXV550's but didn't want to gamble on the engine fragility, or want the high maintenance that they seem to come with. These (690/701) have a few more horses, are a bit heavier, but hopefully just a 'drag it out' and go bore-stroke, with 6000 mile service intervals. Not the normal sort of bike for a 'pensioner' I know just couldn't bring myself to start looking at Harley's As for location.....We're all going to need a graveyard at some point

Ahh SXVs... I have a search open on my desktop for one, has been open for about 3 years. Every week i refresh it. Same shite or exy or nothing... month in, month out. Ive pretty much given up on them now.
The early ones of these did without the modes, but the new ones come with everything the KTM does i think? Is that right Bott?

I had a KTM 690 SMC back in 2012, great bike, sounded awesome with the Akro pipe but got to say at 5’8” was a bit to big for me 😂😂

Ahh SXVs... I have a search open on my desktop for one, has been open for about 3 years. Hi, I did come across one about 45 miles away, (was the closest to date) looked very nice, but appreared to have been raced, and no history mentioned of the fabled engine rebuild. Some parts are nearly impossible to find now, and also they are getting on for 14/15 years old so it's going to get very hard to keep them on the road and maintained, at least that's what I thought, so decided to go with this one. Supposedly 74HP, traction control and two stage throttle response (not that I can tell) Might also have cornering ABS, but not sure that was a 2021 version update, 6000 mile service intervals, also has way less than 1000 miles so should be good for some time. I was also wary of the seat height too davyt as I'm not 5ft 8 either, but tried a demo first and got on ok, been no 'surprise' moments I have't been able to deal with so far. Thinking about going for Power commander/air filte/SAS removal etc etc, but didn't want to start along this road. It was only 'cos I managed to pick up the Akra pipe for less than £200 that had me thinking. Think that lot bumps it up to around 85HP after a bit of dyno time All down to insurance costs from now on, as every tiny mod had some effect on premium it seems.

I've owned the 625 and 690 singles in the past, both very good reliable bikes, never had much trouble with them apart from constantly replacing rear tyres, they do seem to wear them out quick, or perhaps thats just how I rode them I fitted a Power commander to the 690 with a decat and Arrow silencer, it improved the top end power quite nicely. I've got a PC5 and decat on my 1290GT, thats now 192 RWHP and is lovely to ride.
