I'm not sure about this but I've got too many projects and I'm losing interest in all of them. I've got a Jap import 500 which I bought from Fastline a few years ago, its got UK V5. I bought it as a runner that somebody had done some work on but it was done badly, lots of nicely painted and powder coated parts, some new bits but put back together with all the old rusty bolts! I have since stripped it with the idea to put modern wheels brakes etc in it, I've had all the bits powder coated and I'm afraid I also had the frame powder coated. I've sort of made it into a rolling chassis again but thats about it. I have pulled off the top end and I'd say it needs a rebore. It's all there and has quite a few new bits with it. So my question is, whats it worth in todays market, I'm thinking to be honest if I can get a decent price I'll let it go. I know we all hate these type of posts but I genuinely dont know what its worth. I'm about to have the same post on a Kawasaki forum about a 500H1 thats 90% finished, again, I just cant be bothered. I need to get on and finish my 350 Hybrid, maybe if I get rid of the other projects I'll get on and finish one. I've got pictures which I can pass on if needed later. Thoughts and comments (good and bad) welcome. Phil

Never easy with projects. Stick it on ebay and watch it bid up, where it ends is what the market will pay.

Phil, there are a couple of 500 owners on here, why not PM them and ask them what they think? Pick the UK ones, us nasty foreigners have different markets and thus different expectation/value for parts and bikes. FWIW There is one member here who is very clued up on the 500 market as he sells 500 parts and bikes on ebay etc. He only really posts here in 500 threads and has been quite vocal when his ad prices have been questioned Luckily we are all a thick skinned bunch, put up an ad for big money and chances are someone in this community will notice as we all probably have the same ebay searches lol. Anyway, all that said he's a nice chap really and a solid member of the RDRZ500 forum and Im sure he would help you with a value and might even be your buyer although he was selling bike projects recently not buying, but that could just be using the market to sell when prices were on the up etc. Nothing at all wrong in that of course. Anyway, if i was local I would be tempted with this, I have a totally standard one so building one that was modded would appeal. But I guess the modded aspect could slow the sale perhaps, as ever they usually sell best when totally standard since parts are not always easy to find now.

I have to agree with Jon. It’s an RZV alloy frame bike and they make great money. Stick it on fleabay and set a reserve of where you feel like you are covered and see how it goes. 500s make crazy money, hugely over rated bike if you ask me. Nostalgia is a lot of it. I have a bunch in boxes and built, still love em.
