Really great footage, a bit of an insight as to what one of those must be like around that track! BTW, Steve Wheatman is local to my part of the world and bought that bike down to a 2 stroke meet at a cafe one night few years back...cant say how it arrived but it wasnt in a van!

Great video. A Kenny Robert JR 500 was at Cadwell on one of the Suzuki Classic Bike track days I was doing on my RGV. It was in Suzuki blue/pale blue and white. A journalist from MCN I think was riding it. He came past me after Mansfield and just before the Bus Stop but had to go so fast to pass me he couldn't make the corner and went straight on through the cones. That's what I like to think anyway One way or another I have been overtaken on the track by a GP500 and have it on video.

That's an interesting article. I'm pretty sure the early RGV weighed less than 115kg. I think it was on the minimum weight limit around 105kg. Honda couldn't manage to get the NSR down to the weight limit so pressured DORNA into raising the limit to 115 to match what they had so Suzuki then had to put on 10kg. The 10kg was a decent advantage for a 500. Even though the 10kg would have been used to make something stiffer or stronger I think the bike lost one of its advantages. Have you seen the Ron Haslam (Pepsi RGV50) V Gary Cowan (TZ250) video? I can't remember where it was, just somewhere in England. It's a great video of power and speed verses light weight and brilliant handling.
