Oil pump refitting

Bike is an 85 YPVS and around a month ago I removed my oil pump to replace my carbs and throttle cable. That was about a month ago and due to a bout of ill health have just got back on it. I recall when I removed the oil pump cable I had to first remove a tab from the spring in order to allow the cable to exit.
Problem I have now is I can’t locate that tab to re-tension the spring and am wondering if I remove the 10 mm nut to remove the cam wheel and access the spring is there any surprises underneath such as parts that may spring out once not under load? Haynes is silent on the matter (in fact it doesn’t even suggest there is a spring tab in the way of removing the cable ) I found out that little gem of info on here!

Usually if your careful removing the cable you only have to move the spring out a little and it doesn’t unravel,but yours has so you need to spin the pulley putting tension on the spring and reinsert it

Thanks Stusco. I followed your advice and managed to fish out the spring tab which I found sitting in the hole were the cable nipple should sit, managed to bring back round to itshole and seat it with a couple of small screwdrivers and will make note to self to be more careful on the install!
