After completing the KTMAHumph and getting her fully road legal, I've sold 4 of my 2 strokes and find myself with idle hands. So, she will be reborn more as Yamaha intended, but for now, still with a smidge of madness. Not sure quite yet where the path will lead, but I'm excited to be on the journey.

You'll be riding it by the weekend 👍 Great progress Steve I want to get out on my new Honda (sorry....rinse mouth out with soap.....) to get some running in done but the way the weather is, you might not be far off the mark! And, it is currently taxed and MOT'd

Got a bit more done today. The ally rad and matt black silicone hoses arrived so I fitted those and put the 31K switchgear in place, then it was time to decide on electrics and most importantly, which loom to use. None I had were perfect so I decided to go with a NOS 1UA I've had on the shelf for a couple of years and make it fit. It was hard decision to break it out of the bag but then I thought "what the heck", she's got my brand new (subject of some conjecture I can tell you!) YPVS engine in so sod it let's go the whole hog! I'll have to make some amendments to connections but all of this will be done beyond the NOS loom as I just can't bring myself to adapt it, that's a bridge too far even for me! I've an Electrexworld stator and reg/rec to go in but other than a bit of time needed to try and make it all work, she's making good progress. It's not one for the purists, but that's not important to me, it's all about having fun with old motorbikes.

haha, nice work. I have a local mate who had to open a bag with a nos loom for his LC in it, that took a lot of thinking before the bag opened up lol
Im sure some will provide the connectors to come off that 1ua loom to convert it, someone is bound to have a stuffed CDI as thats the weirdest of the connections.
I have a nos 1UA loom on the way for my F2 resto build, I'll have no problem (and will be super excited to) open that bag up as I do love a new loom!

A member on here has come up trumps with the CDI connectors and I've got most of the others worked out as to getting them connected without amending the NOS loom. Hopefully get the Zeel plumbed in over the weekend, stator and flywheel are now on, carbs to strip/check and put rebuild kits in so once that's done, she shouldn't be far away.

A bit more done yesterday. F2 loom mated with various 31K stuff, Electrexworld stator fitted and Zeel wired in. Had a few electrical gremlins to resolve but all in all, not too bad and everything now works and best of all, she's got sparks too! Hopefully finish a few more odds and ends today, then get the carbs earmarked for her checked over and fitted and hopefully sometime later I'll get the chance to see if she'll run which I'll do on premix, if all looks good then I'll put some oil in the 2 stroke tank and check if the pump's working and test the output from it. So far, the rebuild has gone relatively well considering the mixture of 31K and F2 components coupled with a Zeel thrown in for good measure!

I really like this bike. But I have a, err, delicate question. The fork gaiters. Any reason for those?

A bit more progress.... Running on the bottle, sounds crisp and sweet, no undue rattles or rumbles. No leaks from anywhere Buttoned her back up for a couple of miles shakedown. Two sedate miles later and left standing in the garage to cool down, thankfully, still not a drip of anything on the trusty cardboard tell-tale. Happy days

Well I've now commissioned the oil pump and even though it's been sat waiting for me for 35 years, it bled through easily and is delivering the correct quantity of oil. Next thing is to put some petrol in the tank and take that nervous first trip waiting for it to seize without the comfort blanket of premix...... I'm currently running a set of borrowed F2 pipes but I took the plunge and ordered a pair of small can Allspeeds, I know they aren't necessarily the best pipes for power, but they do make a lovely sound and they mimic the short can Microns quite well. Instrument display is a mix of KTM, kart and Chinese 10 bob technology, but at least it gives me all the information I need and I kinda like the way it looks like the set-up you might see in a development vehicle. She might get a KOSO digital dash one day but I think that might be too neat a solution.
