hi all i recently brought an rd200 1e8 rand and started good when i brought it but i decided to have a full engine rebuild anyway for piece of mind

any way got engine back fitted it and runs but the bike wont start off the button and wont charge if i try to start it with electric start the wireing loom starts to smoke

im not the best with electrics but can anybody help me through this problem ? would be much apretiated...

Maybe try the Aircooled RD forum? This is more their field.

It sounds like the starter is drawing more power than the wiring can cope with. I think the starter and charging system are the same thing on a 200, so may need a refurb or replacement???

sorted it now was a short in the wireing
