Hello Everyone, I have a good friend who is trying to make TM28 flatside Mikuni's work on a 48H 350YPVS but is not getting any joy AND is being treated to plumes of blue smoke on the process . Been doing some research trying help but it seems like most everyone prefers the Keihins PWK's? That being said: Has anyone managed to get TM28's to work? Is there a recommended base setting? Is it possible to run them with the oil pump or is pre-mix recommended? I ask because you could drive a bus through the oil injector attachments- they are so much larger that the stock which is what we are thinking is causing the vast plume of oil smoke when throttling off. Here are the settings that DON'T work 20 pilots 340 mains 5L1 needles middle position P2 nozzle, Jolly Motos. VForce4 Reeds. Standard airbox and filter.

You may be getting suction on the oil feed lines at higher revs on closed throttle
I'd fill the spigot with epoxy leaving a blob at the spigot end to stop any chance of it coming loose and entering the engine
Then once cured drill a 1mm or so hole in them

Now that’s a great idea. Cheers Steve!

TM's work great, 28s or 30s, I use them alot, can't give you any base settings as they are all at work on the dyno notes, but defo good when sorted
The smoke will be caused by oil being sucked in on closed throttle (high draw from crank cases) so will suck as much oil as it can from the oil lines, the hole for the oil spigot does not want to be anymore than 2mm max if I remember rightly, think stock is 1.5mm, again I'd need to check my notes at work to be sure

Cheers Mutts, good to know they CAN work. Please let me know if you have a chance to look at your dyno notes- would love to see what works!

running 30mm TMX's on my 421LC - settings are ;
Main 230 Pilot 40 Needle 5EL68
Can't comment how that would work on your mates etc, but that's what I am running
I would check that needle you say he has fitted as a 5L1 won't fit a TM carb, or at least, its the completely wrong needle for that carb, 28 or 30mm
