So, I have my RD125LC in the Dining room in a 100 pieces finally trying to get a few probs sorted.
I have the head gasket to change as it's pressurizing the the water system a bit, the water pump impeller and oil seal to change as it's letting coolant into the gearbox and the clutch is slipping like a mother.
I have the right hand side in bits and can see the water pump seal problem as the seal wasn't fitted all the way in flush so it's been eating the rear of the impeller and the centre of the seal is buggered with the springs hanging off
The question I have at the moment is regarding the clutch.
Basically it's slipping pretty bad so thought whilst it is apart I'd just change the friction plates and springs.
Firstly it wasn't setup correctly as per the manual with the operating arm on the top of the engine lever lined with the arrow and the centre adjuster not 1/4 of a turn back, so maybe that was the problem ?. The dilema now is, do I change the plates and springs anyway, or wait and see if it's ok now it's setup properly ?. Mmmmmmmmmmm.
Anyway, the question........ the clutch plates I have bought for it (from Norbo) are six friction plates all identical but it looks like it currently has 5 normal friction plates and one metal friction plate directly behind the pressure plate ?. Anyone know what's what with them ?.
Also, the clutch springs currently fitted are PINK !!!, anyone know if there's anything significant about that ?. They don't appear to be heavy duty as the clutch lever is as light as a feather ??.
Any advice appreciated as it's the first time I've had one of these in bit.
Ta in advance
