Hi all,
Out of interest when fitting a YPVS engine to an LC how much if any do you have to trim off the rear of the generator cover to clear the frame?

From memory it’s not much may be 10mm or so, or you could fit the LC one Jess

Yea, I've had to trim a bit off the plastic left side case when fitting the Pv engine in an Lc frame. I always fit Lc side cases now though, so no issues. Dusty

Use an LC cover, it's the law.

I'm sure I had one that just had the top edge notched for the frame spar
You have to trim the rear edge for an LC case in a ypvs so assume the ypvs case is smaller there

LC cover is at least Ali. Whereas the Valvie one is shitty plastic. Good riddance... imo

Use an LC cover, it's the law. 100% this. Sorry to hi jack this thread, but would you need to fit a complete PV harness to enable the servo to work or can this be "spliced" into the 4L0 harness? I have looked at this mod for some time.

If you are using PV cdi and pv controller The only real extra bit is a 12v switched power supply and the 5 servo wires so a piece of pish to make up If using a zeel or Iggy then the servo connects to them PV stator charging and neutral plug goes straight into an LC loom Steve

Use an LC cover, it's the law. 100% this. I’m afraid that’s not going to happen. I have 2 billet Legend YPVS generator covers that I love and intend to use. Far more trick IMO than simply bolting on an LC one. I cannot comprehend how much waste there was from the billet, which makes them all the more exclusive in my eyes. Jon

The question was do I need to trim any off? Irrelevant if plastic or aluminium IMO? Only difference is one is already anodised black, and one is for an LC frame and the other for a YPVS. I’d rather use the black one on the YPVS if it needs trimming. Jon

I fitted the YPVS plastic one. It's lighter than the LC aluminium one and the YPVS doesn't need the clutch cable fitting so why use that cover?
It takes about five minutes tops to remove the bit of plastic that catches the frame. That's how I remember it from 1987 when I did my conversion.
FYI, I fitted the engine, wiring harness, switch gear and clocks from an F1. Job done!
