I agree. No point in buying new when the old stuff just needs a lick of paint!

Looking good. I love doing switches, they always come up so much nicer than the battered originals. I went on the hunt for all the worst (but restorable) ones i could find to save them from the bin and then did them up. It took quite a while to find and do that and some were only good for parts of course. I worked out in the end that I wasnt really saving any money doing them up as the OEM new ones werent that expensive and mostly people wanted silly money for old ones that had lived a few lives already, plus the cost of decals and the amount of work etc. But as im sure people know, I do like saving original parts that people would normally bin. I think you can also learn a lot about how these work for when you might have an issue with this or another bike in the future as the inner workings have some interesting design in them. Not just teh simple dry solder joints that look perfect but actually dont function, but things like I had an issue with an indicator side that would not work first time after ign on, but it would only after the other side was used! This happened every time. I eventually found it was the 'flying' earth tabs and one needed a subtle rebend. Plenty of things like that inside these to enjoy if you do enough really ropey ones. lol. Also found things like the different market models are different in switches and wiring, eg Canada doesnt have lights off option or 'pass' etc. FWIW I'm with you. I also struggled to get paint to work as it always chipped really easy. Satin PC is the best way IMHO. Whats also weird is that you can almost never find LC left switch gear well used here, only the right ones. I could still do with a left UK/Aus/EU/Japan version. Got me thinking i should place a WTB lol.

Hi everyone, I've been working on the forks ,I had the tubes the Chromed as they were pitted ,had them done at Abe in London, brilliant service, only took about 3 weeks. I rebuilt them with gen seals and bushes, new oil ,and the new top adjuster's I think they look cool .I couldn't resist slipping them in the yokes and slotting the rim in for a sneek peek , tyres on soon 👌

Forks look great Chris I've dealt with ABE before, and found them really helpful. And 3 weeks for rechroming sounds like a quick turnaround Keep up the good work Dusty
