Does the rubber grommet on the choke do anything ..... Does it prevent excess air getting in.... or is it just a dirt seal..... Cheers

Hi, Id say it is only a dirt/dust seal. The sealing face is the rubber bit on the end of the plunger, which opens or closes a hole/drilling/passage in the carb. Steven.

I agree with Steven. I've had a friend ask me to look at his bike because the engine was playing up. It turned out the choke was jammed on. The rubber grommet was missing and I think this was a big part of the reason the choke seized on.

The LC version part number is NLA at Fowlers, BUT COVER, PLUNGER CAP 132-14173-00 which is a RD50M or SR250 part looks like it will do the job, I am having my choke plunger serviced by Rob - Zed1, (see the sales forum) so I have ordered the above part, fits like a glove, I am going to use it, its got to be better than my one which is hard and split, so if you just want to replace the rubbery bit give this a go

I've just bought one Steve 👍 Did it work OK? If so I might get one as well. I noticed the rubber on mine was a bit perished and once you see it, you can't unsee it, so it needs fixing! 😂

My worry ist that the plunger does not seal the enrichment-circuit completly, so I may be running to rich sometimes. I bought one of the cheap ones but you have to push it all the way in. As I remember from long ago, when they where (nearly) new, you had to push the plunger and then the spring would push it into the closed position.

Hi zed,
I have a 125cc 10W and I see no way to take mine apart for the repair. Except to destroy the knob and fit a new one after the repair. It should be no problem to cut few threads M4 onto the brass to fit anything to pull / push in.
Please send me the details about shipping / payment.
Regards
Brigitte
