Is it a Harrison? looks like a lathe I had at one time, but a bit shorter C-C
Have you got the change gears for screwcutting? looks like a fun project.

Its a pools 4" special, there's only the gears on the machine, no extras 😕 Not too bothered as its only for messing about, making spacers etc and being old, the screw cutting guide are imperial anyway.... It came up local at reasonable money www.lathes.co.uk/pools/

The change gears with it...

Only problem I've found is, the back gears don't engage, stripped it down and the eccentric shaft is bent, so that's the first thing I'll be trying to make, once I've got my head around how to machine an eccentric shaft 😆

The perfect excuse to buy a milling machine and make some new change gears. Cutting metric threads on imperial lathes is easy enough. You need a 127 tooth gear, or a division there of (based on 1" = 25.4mm). My Myford uses a 21, so 6*21 = 126 so I'm a tiny bit out, but its not noticeable, I've cut many metric threads and the nuts fit just fine.
For the eccentric you probably need an independent 4 jaw chuck, rather than your 3 jaw scroll one, post a piccy if stuck, someone will know how to do it.

I've watched a few vids using a 3 jaw chuck and a spacer to get the work off centre, there's a formula for getting the spacer size. It's a bit off yet, I can build the lathe and have a look at the back gears after...

I was spitting feathers today
Local old boy engineer called saying my latest stem shortening was done so I popped down to pick it up
He's winding down as his wife's health isn't good so shutting up and selling out his premises and moving some essentials to his house
When I went in there was a milling machine sitting in the middle of the floor. He said it was sold and being picked up so I asked how much he sold it for
THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY FECKIN QUID
Gutted was an understatement
He has 3 lathes there but too big for DIY. The biggest has a 5m bed 😮

Productive few days, got the old girl stripped down and attacked with paint stripper ! Got the bed and headstock cleaned up and painted in red oxide primer and then blue brake caliper enamel, thinking it should be harder wearing than normal paint...

It's funny, I never really had an interest in machine tools.I have used lathes, Miller's, grinding matches etc. when I was on the tools but I have to say that you've done a fantastic job in restoring this piece of equipment. 👏

Well, it's just about done, made a mdf base and covered I some S/Steel I "aquired" from work, spent ages setting it up but im sure it will need fettling a bit once bedded in... Just need to find some inside chuck jaws but it's a American "The Cushman" chuck so jaws are like finding uncut rd rear mudguards 😂 I might just get a new chuck from chronos or RG Tools, dunno yet..

I must be a sucker for punishment, just picked up this old pillar drill up locally off fb marketplace 😁 Its a early 40's Tauco that's a rebadged American delta dp220. It's a bloody heavy old thing that will probably outlive me 🤣🤣 It dwarfs my little Parkside Aldi cheapie drill, gonna paint it the same blue as the lathe cos I'm a fanny 😁 Apparently delta imported the machines over to the UK to help with the war effort ....

Are you opening a machine tool restoration business or engineering jobbing shop? At least I know where to come for bespoke bushes to be made Im sure you'll make a good job of the drill, when finished.

They're really good sturdy drills that can even do a bit of light milling. I have one. There seems to be a few bits missing from yours and the motor pulley is wrong (missing the fourth groove), but spares seem to pop up occasionally on ebay etc. It's all UNF and UNC bolts, plus whatever the motor is (probably added after import to suit the UK voltage and use/phase). There is a website somewhere that will tell you the date of manufacture from the serial number, if you care about that sort of thing. Nice job on the lathe too.

Yep, missing the depth gauge and like you say, a 3 step pulley on the motor. Its a Griffin motor so might be able to get a generic 4 step pulley.?..
