Because my TIG welding skill is developing let's say, I'd have machined that from solid.
Interesting isn't it how we approach things.
Ordered some material today to make a bottom yoke - no TIG you see!!

Have you got a blast cabinet? Glass bead media would have all those ally surface the same.

Ordered some material today to make a bottom yoke - no TIG you see!! Yes it is, i made a plate very similar to this. The piece that Sidney welded in i made from two collars which pressed into the plate. I made it like that so i could adjust the amount the plate could move in or out on the wheel axle.

Is there not an ideal position for the alignment centrally?

I do what I'm good at ,I'm not a machinist alough I can get buy πbut welding/ fabrication is my trade / job so I suppose that's why I choose to do it that way, even if it may not be the best way π

No just two halfs that press into the hole of the plate from each side. It makes it easy to remove the two spacers and change the dimensions and move the plate in towards the center of the rim or out towards the swing arm.

Hi Sidney theres no doubt about your skills, they are fantastic and normally i would keep my opinion to my self but as this is to do with brakes i will comment here.
I think the pin on the swing arm is a bad idea. This is due to the small contact area and being round sitting in a slot. Both parts are made from a relatively soft material subjected to substantial force whilst braking. I don't think it will take to long before you start to get excessive clearance between the two parts. If you make the pin into a rectangle you will have a lot more contact area to help spread/absorb the braking forces making the components last a lot longer.
I hope your not offended by my comments Tony

You are still very skilled being able to construct and use machinery. Most people can do one or the other.
