Neutral and oil light 4Lo

Evening all having a small issue that I can't figure out had the Lc running earlier today with the intention of a quick spin around the block to make sure all is in order.
So brought the tank off and put some juice in it as had it running on the drip feed.
Turned on the ignition and the neutral and oil light would not come on and the temp gauge went all the way to the red but the high beam light is working, signal light and horns and switches are working as they should
Have a brand new battery and I've checked all the block connectors and fuses are fine the only thing have not tried is the bulbs in the clocks but the temp gauge is putting me off trying at the minute
Anything else I've missed or can try

Neutral and oil light share the same wire, so when into gear both lights extinguish, possibly the neutral switch is faulty, or poor connection of the wire to the switch.

The temperature gauge is separate and may be unconnected, try removing the wire off the sensor to see if the needle stays on the bottom, if it does then the sensor may have failed, if it still climbs to the red zone, the wiring may be earthing out somewhere as that's his it reads, by resistance in the sensor.
