Hello forum members. I'm new on this forum, so let me my introduce myself. When the RD350LC was introduced in 1980, a was looking to buy my first bike and a fell in love the moment I saw it in the magazines. I ordered one immediately and in Juli 1980 I was, 19 years old, one of the first owners of this fantastic bike in The Netherlands. I rode it until 1995 but then some maintenance needed to be done and because I didn't have the money or time to do it (first kid born), I sold it to my brother. He rode it for a couple of years until he got problems with his neck. It stood in his garage for a couple of years collecting dust. Two years ago I saw some YouTube movies about the LC and it started "itching". I bought it back from him for Euro 500 with the intention to restore. So now, 40 years later and me aged 59, it's back! The bike is not ready to take on the road: - oil leakage at the shifting axle (already started to develop when I still rode it)
- brake calipers completely locked (had to take them of the fork, otherwise it can't be pushed)
- Needs some repainting (calipers, cylinders, frame,...)
- Cracked plastic
- Maybe a new top end and/or bottom end?
- ....
I have no experience in the restoration of motorcycles, but I do have some mechanic skills (my son rides a KTM SX250 motocross bike and I'm his mechanic). I will have lot's of question and hope to find advice and help on this forum. First question to start with: Are spare parts still available? In particular of the engine (bearings, gaskets, pistons,....).
Thanks, Fred

Hi Fred, yes most parts available, just had crank redone, barrels re sleeved and all new gearbox bearings in my 4L0 350. Circlip groove on gearbox output shaft was damaged, gearshaft no longer available but a complete good second hand complete set of gearbox shafts supplied by a helpful forum member.

Fred, welcome. And thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself and your situation.... I think many share a similar story....many variations ! Are twostroke still ok to use in the road in Holland? Some talk of ban them or was that just in cities ?

Thank you all for your nice words. It's a bit too cold right now in my garage, will start to make some space available to lay down the parts one I start the disassembly. I will also start to collect information (from this forum) on things that will come along the way. In case I need to re-sleeve/bore the cylinders and/or have the crankshaft overhauled: Anyone knows a good place to go for this in The Netherlands?
I will document and photograph all steps once I start.

Great introduction. What the guys on this forum don't know about LC isn't worth knowing! You'll find there are a lot of parts available now that weren't available 10/20 years ago. Norbo does brand new tanks for example that are spot on and Alan on here does some 3D printed parts. On the down side second hand spares seem to be going up in price.
