Put the bike up on the centre stand then find a block of wood or something similar the correct size to fit under the rear wheel
This will stop the rear wheel dropping when you take the bolts out and will keep the tie bars lined up for refitting

They're a bugger to adjust the preload collar, used a drift for mine, not ideal but couldn't get in with my c spanner...

Couldn't move mine either this weekend after slackening the grub screw of course, and i've lost the tool that came with it to adjust it. Andy.

I'm a long way from being ready to fit it though. Isn't the tool a piece of bar about 6mm/1/4"? I just looked in the box and it appears I took it out and put it somewhere safe 🤔

Why I never left it in the box with the shock I'll never know! I have loads of 6mm stainless round bar. We make guards from it at work and the guys throw loads in the scrap bin. I do my regular patrol and dig anything useful out and bring it home.
