Fantastic.

i was there in '91 and witnessed the Nortons 1st hand - absolutely awesome. That was Trevor Nation at the end in the pits whop got dsq'd the year before on the JPS Norton I recall for an oversized tank that stretched with the G force at the bottom of bray hill with a full tank. Hard hard and talented men.

Hizzy was taken from us far too early - who knows what he'd have gone on to achieve.

I tried to buy a Hizzy rep Arai a while ago too - simply the best helmet design I reckon.

While I was there I ordered a huge photo of Hizzy wheelying over Ago's leap which they posted to me later in a tube

Ordered kippers aswell !

Didn't they have to remove the front mudguards on the Nortons because of cooling issues ?

yep - the ACU were not popular, gut it just goes to show how nuts the whole thing is.

Yes the front muddy was indeed removed as those bikes ran really hot. The silencers always glowed red.

I've some pics somewhere of Robert Dunlop's bike in the pits and the bum stop was about 10" deep - bloody beautiful in that JPS livery.

The only other bike I've ever heard at the TT that sounded as mental & high revving was a few years back when I heard then watched James Hillier go by on a demo lap with the Kawasaki H2R thing - Christ it was loud and sounded like a low flying aircraft. Sounded ace going up Hailwood's rise on WOT!

I was there too, standing on the grass bank with the Mrs. just before Creg-Nay-Barr. It was a roasting hot day and I got quite sunburnt.

The Norton and Foggys bike both sounded knackered towards the end. We were in the braking zone and could hear the chain slapping about.

I only went back in 2014 on a lads trip stag weekend by mini bus. Even that was great though.
