Going to sell my 2002 Bonneville but what are the tips to sell on fleabay or is it better trying elsewhere ?
It's been heavily modified too and that may be tricky explaining all that as I want it to appeal to the masses LOL

headcoatsThat’s a lovely looking bike 😎 I would personally use AutoTrader for a more traditional sale, rather than an auction but of course you can still have a fixed price on eBay too. I think that lots of photos from every angle and lots of detail is key. I also always look at other private and trade prices to gauge a fair price, depending on if you are looking for a quick sale of course. What price do you have in mind just out of interest? Cheers Geoff

As usual I'm looking for maximum funds LOL
Price wise , I really don't know but start at about £2500 upwards
Have seen the air cooled Thruxton models at nearly £5000 which is a bit crazy as the new 1200 water cooled bikes are only a few grand more
Mine isn't a Thruxton alas but have made it look similar to one and it has Thruxton alloy rimmed wheels, front mudguard, seat and seat cowl etc
I sold the standard parts, so can't revert back to standard as that is what folks do ?
On fleabay the prices are all over the place for the air cooled bikes which were made from 2001 to 2015
One thing is it was built in UK and is the carbed model before they made them all fuel injection
It is in good condition but still makes it a 19 year old bike and it ain't an LC !

Join all the appropriate owners groups on facebook and advertise within those, its free and easy to place. I have just sold my trusty old DR350 on one of the owners group pages. Totally painless and I actually got more than I thought I would.

I tend to use Ebay classified section for selling bikes. You tend to get more serious buyers rather than the 'click-now think later' type with auctions. The buyer has to make a bit more effort but tends to allow you to engage better with them during the sale. You do not pay commission based on sale price either, just a fixed fee which I think was around £15 last time I used it, probably a bit more now.

EBay classified listing for 30 days
Fixed fee and no buy it now button for knobs to hit then change their mind
Sold a few bikes that way with no probs
Listing stays live till you end it so if someone says they'll take it you wait till it's paid and collected before ending the listing
Put it on for say £500 over what you want and allow offers
Be warned some dick will offer half what you are asking 🙄

Another option, as your bike is quite niche and would appeal to an enthusiast, might be the Triumph Owners Club. They have a forum that includes bikes for sale. www.tomcc.org/

Unless you are in a rush, I would wait until the spring to sell as you will get more buyers and a better price for a ride able bike, especially if we out of lockdown.
I think projects are different as many people look for winter and presumably lockdown projects to work on. Sorry I know nothing about the merits/price of you bike though.

eBay...ok then. I've sold a lot of bikes and cars there with no issues. Fixed price with make an offer is a good idea. As said get 16 pics, that's the max allowed and don't forget a close up of the clocks. Be brutally honest in your description, so all mods done, any problems you've had or have had to fix. Timing is key too I've found. I always list mine so they start at 9pm on a Friday. Punters come in from the pub and either have a bid or add it to their watch list.

Alex What is this Pub thing you speak of Alex ?? Is it somewhere where folk can go to make Merry then go home and recklessly bid on said eBay items ?? It sounds like immense fun 😂😂

Yes, back in ye olde times there were houses where people would gather, drink alcoholic liquors and much merriment was had before heading home switching on EBay and unfortunately with impaired brain function they are mistaken that it is either a bargain, it is a must have item, they can afford it, be able to hide it from the wife or the wife will agree that Its the best buy and most sensible use of their finances
Modern times have vastly reduced this altered mind state due to Boris of the Johnson closing said houses of contamination

This was off the Triumph Forum
They are on about modding the bikes and how it affected their re sale value
Quote
These air-cooled Hinkley twins are in an interesting spot in their history. The oldest of them are not yet old enough to be "classics" or to have any kind of collector value, but they are getting close. The newest are old enough to not compete well on the resale market with their water-cooled cousins. This situation will change soon enough. When the oldest start to be over 20 years old, we'll start to see their value creep up as collectibles, and in that case the stock ones are going to be in highest demand. That's just a couple of years away.

Ive sold my last 2 on ebay as classified adverts not auctions You get 30 days listing so you can put the price you want for a couple of weeks to start with I didnt get any interest on mine so reduced it by £500 then another £500,it sold to the 1st person who came to view Same as you difficult to price ,it was a Ducati ,lots of similar bikes up for 2 or 3k more ,but checking the sold listings ,not many were selling for that Everyone on the Ducati forum said it was cheap but obviously not as it didnt sell until the price drop Lovely bike btw
