Fizzy for me, back in 79, cost £28 which was equivalent to a weeks wages ( I was an apprentice Fitter/Turner), used to go like stink ( well 😂) and then nip up ...noisy as with its pee wee power pipe ( not sure what make but bloody loud )

I had a ZR50-X1. I did 10k miles on it in 1 year, still the most miles I’ve done on a bike in any one year. Was built like a tank and the only thing that broke was the kickstart shaft snapped off on the first day on the road. I didn’t repair it till I wanted to sell it a year later for a Honda NS125f

First thing I rode on the road was an mt5
Was actually owned by a mate who bought it with a seized engine
He let me run about on it as I'd helped him swap the motor for an mtx 50 engine (had to swap the crank cases as it came from a guy we knew who had done an insurance job on it)
And no it wasn't any faster lol
First actual bike I owned that I had on the road was a DT80mx

First thing on the road for me was a Tomas moped out of my late mums Kay’s catalogue
(Just remembered the reg B27 GUY)
£199 for the bike road tax insurance and a open face helmet as on £33 a week it’s all I could afford (as hp was £2 a week over 50 weeks) then bought a CB100N for my first real bike ☹️☹️ when I turned 17 and was still on 33 a week🙄🙄

Raleigh runabout (Mobylette in drag) so now you know I was a poor student. Moved onto a Puch M50 sport ( the best when it ran) then SS50 4 speed then RD50 with pipe etc, managed 50mph. The Honda just worked but so slow.

Honda MTX50...snapped the frame on it thinking I was Dave Thorpe....
A mate welded it up ( a 16 year old apprentice fabricator ..looked terrible!) , painted the weld over with some Humbrol model paint kicking around from an Airfix kit and PXd it on a AR80....which felt like a missle after the MTX...

Yamaha V50 I was 14. Got away with it for 2 years. Different times. I'd have a fit with my own kids if I caught them riding underage and uninsured...

These people who create polls and don’t give all options....🙁 😂 I didn’t start on a ped, got a unmentionable 200cc when I was 17, and an Aircooled RD350 the moment I passed my test. The rest is history as they say ...

Yellow FS1E DX RAF544R. Cost me £220 in 1979. I had saved up enough to buy it after 4 months of being an apprentice sheet metal worker but borrowed the money off the old man so I could get it quicker. The bike did a touch over 40. Never really liked it and can't understand anyone wanting a Fizzy now but my next bike the RD200 was a different story altogether. Still have one now.

An M reg fizz for me (Norman nippy wasn't officially an on road bike, but used up and down our un adopted road) Then traded for a 250 C windy when 17.. complete with "square death" Avon Speedmaster rear tyre. Surprisingly still able to scrape the pegs... and stay out of A&E. Fizz was £120

My first bike was an mz Simpson. Did 45 downhill . Throttle stuck where you put it so was like cruise control. Kickstart was on left hand side and on the same shaft as the gear lever. The shaft sheared after about 7 or 8 months so I couldnt kick start it and couldn't bump start it because I couldn't get it out of neutral.

Red SS50 with a C70 head and barrel. £180 I think, quite a chunk of money aged 16 but I had been saving for ages. Quicker than most, only my mate's tuned fizzy kept up with it but the Honda handled like an elephant on crack. Learnt a lot from that little bike.
