Is it time I junked this lot, always thought it might come good eventually, but now, nearly all photos blurred until I pay up,(commercial blackmail?) bit c##p as I have approx 1500 pics on there (probably a lot less than most on here) Started using imgur and tapatalk, but will tapatalk need all my pics on a phone?

I kicked Photomutherf**kers into touch as soon as they did the ransom demand Kind of hoped they would have gone bust by now, but they still hang on, like a turd on a blanket. Took me a lot of work to move all my pics over to another host, and repopulate all my threads with the correct pics They still email me every week - either threatening I will lose my pics, or offering some shitty deal to get me paying something ! Never gonna happen, out of principle as much as anything else. I didn't get on with the phone based hosts, so I use Flikr. I pay a monthly subscription now as I went over 1000 free pics really quickly, mainly due to the Facebook pics I put on the forum, plus most of my threads are fairly pic heavy. I know I can do mutiple free accounts using different email addys with Flikr, but I found that a faff too, so now I just pay a few quid a month and it makes life easier for a pic horder like me Dusty

I went through this with ImageShit (Imageshack) and Photofuket (Photobucket) and lost everything and had the hassles. Fool me once fool on you, fools me twice... well... So I swore never to be tied in again.
Stuck stuff on my own website server and then the forum decided it didnt like the links as they were not httpS. Sigh... My hoster swore it should be fine. It wasnt. So all lost again. At that point I wondered if id ever bother with pix again. Totally gutted.
Now Ive been using imgur recently, it works and i dont need to register and as im not putting up anything I wouldnt share with the world (its on here so by default im good with people I dont know seeing it) so if they decide to share it later so what etc.

I'm the same, all my images are bike related, so anyone looking for something spicey in my collection is gonna be sorely disappointed !! I've got over 2k images in my Flikr account, another 1000 in the "free" one. I pay a little each month as it gives a level of protection - like you, if they were lost again I dont think I would bother any more. I was surprised to see Economy Cycle using my pics of my engines to advertise the Siberdyne clear case covers though ! Maybe I'm due a financial "retainer" !! Dusty

Same with me, I had all the photos of my current LC restoration from start to finish and ride outs etc on photof**kit, then it all went tits up and they wanted money off me. Really pissed me off, so I dont bother with pics now. Steven.

So no easy swaps to be had then? maybe I'll stick with imgur and only have a few images on there as required. Done several recent rebuilds but can't be bothered to host all the pics somewhere different now. All bike pics or bits for sale, so nothing important or secret It's just handy when someone wants a pic as a reference and you might have it hosted, eg. RD500 horn

I was with Photobucket too and my thoughts the same. I now use the free Flickr account. I didn't realise its capped at 1000 pics but hopefully if I delete the old ones I can live with that. It is a faff though as I use my phone for taking pics, but my laptop for all my internet stuff - my eyes and stubby fingers don't like using a phone for that sort of stuff! So I take pic on phone, upload to laptop, then to flickr, and then the link to this site or other, so takes a while!
I often ask if people have Whattsapp when sending pics direct as easy to take pic on phone then send by Whattsapp, and its free to do. I can later delete the pic and receiver still has his copy.

There never used to be a limit with Flikr, then they decided they would cap a 1000 pics as free then pay after that for any more. I went through and deleted generic pics to get below 1000, but each build I do adds 3-400 pics, so I was never gonna stay below 1000 for long. I figured all the main hosting firms would do the same, so I pay to have piece of mind. I think a forum without pics would be a bit grim, and I'm a avid poster of pics, so Flikr is good for me now. I take all pics with my phone, save to my hard drive and then upload the ones I need, so everything is backed up on my PC, plus copied to an external drive for safety. Free Flikr is great for 1000 pics or less, imo.
Dusty😉
