I'd be happy with that Mouse although i would try at least one gear higher.

Many thanks Tobyjugs and Arrow, so you think jetting looks good not too lean? That is with an oil pump recently refurbished by you Arrow so again, many thanks.
Next stop is a dyno run at the end of the month!

I don't think it looks too lean, no. The colours can look distorted in photos though. So only you can see the true colour.

I would go with that colour if the engine was fully loaded in the test. Looks more than good if it will be tested on a dyno you cant be far off. Don't forget weather conditions influence the jetting of a two stroke so it's better to be a little rich and lose a few PK's. In the winter i also jet up for the cold weather. If the bike feels like a scolded cat all of a sudden then i look at the plugs just in case.

These are mine, I would like some more colour on mine but if I raise the needle or up the pilot it won’t pull clean

These are mine, I would like some more colour on mine but if I raise the needle or up the pilot it won’t pull clean Thats the best way to do a plug cop but i cant comment on this apart from to say supposedly there should be a black ring 3/4 of the way up the porcelain. The position of the black ring should indicate too rich or lean. This could be internet crap i'm spouting.

The problem I have had for many years with plug chops is that if your jetting was far out and you try to do a proper one then surely you would melt a piston? I've heard people say they rode around the block a couple of times and what do you think to my spark plug colour? What if you run B10's instead of 8/9's is the same colour still relevant? I had a set up once where the bike would be O.K. after one long flat out run and would do a piston during a second run. Cured eventually after consulting stan Stephens and ending up with 350main jets and about 75 miles to a tank. Ending up taking the Microns off and the issue went away. Stan explained that the last pipe before the "silencer" was designed for the 250 and was too small for the 350's causing overheating of the pistons. He said the solution was to cool it with petrol hence the big jets. That kinda defeated the object as running rich also robs power so the Microns went. I'll be controversial and say that now they don't get thrashed like we used to thrash them. Something I think whenever I see a 350 with Microns on I know the alternative is a dyno but there were very few of those around in the mid eighties and I had no money. Saying that I would always manage to find money for new pistons Nowadays I would have headed to my local dyno guy.

Dunno... the above is far more suggestive of "faulty memory" than anything else :-)

Dunno... the above is far more suggestive of "faulty memory" than anything else :-) Which bit? All of it? Have to admit my memory is rubbish but stuff from the 70's and 80's seems to be clearer than stuff from the last few years. Probably an accumulation of the effects of a few bangs to the head. Still interested to find out the bits you think I am confused about though.

I guess he has Microns on a 350.
