Hi What's the current best set up for the reed blocks on a road going / lightly tuned 350 YPVS motor? Standard, standard different petals, or VForce

Hy-tech were just copies of the banshee reeds i think, I assume you can still get em? just get the banshee OEMS. thats what i do.
Boysen trap doors will never open the larger petal. Thats a no from me.
VF4s is what i would suggest.
There are others out there. TDR does petals and Wicked was doing a nice cage setup I think as well (also with custom TDR reeds I suspect).

If you look at a VF reed block construction you will see a small round hole at the entrance which then opens up where the reeds are. This is a form of stuffing. I have done the same to a pair of YPVS reed blocks using the Yamaha resin petals Norbo sells and a 2K putty (similar to JB Weld). This mod used with an inlet manifold which tapered from 26mm diameter carb side to 28mm reed block side gave a good boost to performance.
Stuffers are regularly used in 2 stroke cross engines.
I never correctly measured it but i think it gave an extra 4-6 pk extra
You can find the stuffers pre made made in aluminium at the sip scooter shop. I have no idea how these work as i made my own and found these later.

Forgive my ignorance 😳 but are the banshee ones carbon fibre and the std Yamaha ones white nylon ? My bike came with carbon fibre ones when I bought it a long time ago, don’t know what make they are. But I ought to replace them with new while it’s all apart anyway just not sure what to get It’s a std 31K bike just polished the ports a bit , large can Allspeeds and F2 Powerjet carbs

It looks a bit crude but it works well. This is Mk1, Mk2 will have a more rounded teardrop leading edge.
