My first time so be gentle with me. I have an exhaust issue with a 350 F1, standard pipes. The short tube that runs from the 2nd baffle plate is broken off and loose between the plate and the 1st shoulder. The exhausts are actually 31W not 31K but I don't think that's relevant in this case as 31W and 31K seem to be the same other than the reduced diameter at the header, which is long since mended. It looks like the broken off tube will come out through the rear section with a bit of jiggling around..... but, what does that leave me with? My question is, what does that tube actually do, with it gone all the diameters are still the same. How much of an imbalance is that tube missing going to make? Removing the rear section by cutting the original weld, repairing the fault and rewelding, is within my powers but is it necessary? Not easy to get a good photo with endoscope. www.dropbox.com/s/5v5zvdknd2v64ah/WIN_20200912_18_01_21_Pro.jpg?dl=0Your thoughts?

I had the same problem with both my F1 exhausts. What I did is that I cut the rear section of one exhaust removed the piece and weld the exhaust back together. After the first I realised that I went too far with it so I left the other as it was.
I have been running the bike for 5 years and I can’t spot any difference. If you can pull it out without cutting the exhaust open then do it as the broken piece will rattle at idle and it can be annoying

Thanks Kostas, that is helpful. Yes, whatever happens that broken bit is coming out, it rattles and it will only cause more damage over time.
