As i understand there are some Triumph front calipers that will bolt straight on the stock forks, but are there any others out there that are a straight fit....?

Tell me about it ๐
Took a gamble on a mint but cheap pair from the states and they are the wrong ones
On a more positive note if the 5 years standing still has knackered my 6 pots they may go on there ๐ค

I would be interested in the answer to that question. I recently fitted the Triumph ones to my F2 and they are a massive improvement. I would have liked a pair of Sumitomos or ones with a Nissin logo as it just doesnโt look quite right to me with a Triumph logo. Didnโt quite know which ones had 83mm centres. Some Sumitomos allegedly off an FZR400 are advertised on eBay as 100mm centres so I am confused. If no one knows, perhaps Jonw will take up the research challenge and update his website for us!

Most people just get the triumph logo machined off Steve Or it's easy enough to just file the logo off.

Yep file and wet n dry it off if you hate it. Its just a brand name tho, no diff to Tokico or Nissin or even Brembo tho and they brand most of their work etc. Ive never bothered researching the Sumitomos as they are old now and the Triumphs were current and in much better condition. The Nissins were harder to find than the Triumphs as well... I went for the ones you could find and were usually usable when they arrived to keep costs down.

Yeah, the sumitomo ones from FZR400R 3TJ are definitely 83mm centres. I've got a pair I bought years ago and still haven't got round to fitting them.๐ฉ Also got a pair of FZR250 calipers, also 83mm centres that will fit. And..... also got a pair of absolutely mint FZR600 calipers, pads, hoses and union and they are the 100mm centres, perfect for someone looking to do a concourse restoration.๐ OMG......why do I keep buying all these bits. No wonder I can't move in my fookin' garage!๐

Haha, I have the same issue. I see shiny things and out comes my wallet (well my paypal details... LOL)!
Feel free to send pics of the calipers you have that fit and I'll update the Triumph page if you like Freddie? Do you know which 250 they were off as there were a few models of that as well I think, I assume 3LN as thats the one with twin disks? I am no FZR expert....

Hi Jon, good to know it's not only me that keeps buying all this old toot!๐
3LN sounds right for the FZR250 calipers, definitely twin discs, 288mm if I remember correctly ( got them tucked away somewhere as well), but man I bought them years ago!
Will try to post some pics if I can figure it out on this forum, seems a lot more complicated than on other forums I use but......it's probably just me, I'm an old git!!!๐ฉ๐๐

Thinking about it I should really find someone who knows the FZRs to say for sure if people want the info on the site. I dont want to provide half truths and cause anyone to buy the wrong parts. The info I have on there is often hard won. I also bought the wrong Triumph calipers first after forum posts back in the day that suggested the wrong models, hence why i created the page as it was definite info that would save guys money and time, both grave mistakes.

all pre diversion yamahas are 83mm,but are standard 2 pot sumitomos with 43mm pistons,as said above, all 4 pots that fit are a major improvement,as for the triumph emblem on the triumph calipers, its a 5 minute job each caliper with the right tools,to scrub that logo flat, and have a plain alloy face, the nissin + triumph calipers are also anodised inside the seal recess, which helps stopping the corrosion build up behind the seals, they should go for years without service, unlike tokicos, although ,i have still seen some badly neglected ones

Hmm. Yeah, this is the problem. I'm uncomfortable adding info thats not tested and I don't have the money or time to buy a bunch more calipers of a type I dont want just to write that bit up. It's a minefield and I don't want to get blamed for something being wrong when the info didn't originate with me.
Let's just stick with the Triumph info, it works. I spent the money to get the right and wrong ones and worked out how to tell them apart etc. The info has proven to be foolproof I'd say, people have been using the article to buy them for 5+ years with success often reported on here.
Of course anyone wants to publish their own FZR etc info should do so, I just don't think it's for me to do.
