This is not a full restoration as such. But bike was very ratty and could need some improvements. I always wanted a twin headlight setup on my F2 and got a fairing from a 350 R which i will put on together with some standard plastic for the rear. Got this fuel tank shipped to me from switzerland. Full of dents on the left side and full of spray filler in general. It is now transformed into this But still looks better from a distance.... Made some new brackets for the different fairing

Got some more bits done today These are original F2 plastic panels. They were broken and cracked everywhere but surprisingly all the lugs and hooks to fasten it to the bike was functional With some bits of plastic and some staples and a soldering iron i was able to repair them. easy enough job actually. But the smoke and fumes during the repair is lethal Choose ukrainian colors for the rear panels in the vain hope that my wife will easier accept the bike Shes from Kharkov in east ukraine....

My original idea was to use the decal kit for the blue version and create something like this But decals did not fit the 350 R fairing I decided to paint the stripes instead and had to make the color scheme some easier and ended up with this idea...

Nice scheme. Said it before please donβt use a soldering iron on the plastic it can cause lung damage and even death there are loads of alternatives on the site for repairs on plastic panels . Enjoy your build π

Yes it can not be said often enough. Do not do this unless you have proper ventilation and gas mask. Next time i plan to use a vacuum cleaner to vent off the smoke and wear a protective mask from the chemical plant where i work... Commercials on facebook show an electric tool for this job which shall give much less smoke and is easier to work with...

Just read your profile your English is amazing π I assumed your user name was connected to diving but that would be paddi ( itβs a diving qualification in the UK). As I said lovely colour scheme nice job.

Possibly my color choice is som influenced by my GSXR SRAD... I always liked the Suzuki colors Bike was sold to finance the RD but it barely made enough to purchase the wreck....

Found some blue material to recover the trashed seat. Cost me 9 euros at a local shop
My wifes clothespegs was very handy But it really was one of most difficult jobs i ever done. I was about to give up many times. But got it finished the way I wanted it in the end A great relief...

Not really done it before, but 40 years ago i did some repair to the seat of my suzuki 50 cc. But i have some experience in covering guitar amplifier cabinets (there is one in picture on the left) and the material is similar but amplifiers have a regular shape and is much easier...

Lovely colour scheme. Will you be keeping red wheels? Trying to imagine them in each of the colours on the bodywork and can't work out which I would prefer. I think white or the lighter blue.

Not decided what will be with wheels. Blue color like spots on the tank or white will be best i think... But possibly i will try different wheels...

Always had a soft spot for a twin headlamp fairing. Really looks good on your build. The colour scheme really sets it off and makes it look like it's how it left the factory.

Ah thank you for the kind words I originally had the idea of doing some kind of hybrid with usd forks and banana swingarm. But with a factory lookalike paintjob it might not be the right way to go.... Plan now is to try to service and rebuild the original forks. If they will not do the job i will try to find better forks that look similar... I would much more prefer conventional preload adjusters instead of the silly air valves... Will try the R6 rear shock though. Easy enough to revert back if i not like it...

Carbs are back on now. I shimmed and bled the oil pump. Took out the spark plugs and run an electric drill on the flywheel to pump the oil up to the carbs. Then put in the plugs again and started it up. It ran well enough at start, then right hand cylinder died. Changed the right plug. Started up again and it ran ok. Then left hand cylinder died. Feel utterly digusted by the whole project. Really have desire to put it in the bin right now... Will leave it for a week and see if i can find the courage to continue.

It's all part of the fun dude. I wish mine hadn't started when I rebuilt it the last 2 times. If I had to mess about getting her started in the 1st place I may have found out the squish was too low and the 2t pump weren't pumping.
Maybe the angels are looking over you and preventing the possibility of a more expensive problem.π

It is one way to look at it Went in garage and changed the left hand spark plug today. It started after 3 kicks. And seems normal on cold engine with the choke to us 3 kicks to start it. One kick with warm engine. Its an easy starter. I guess by the view of the plugs that it is running rich. Carbs are on stock jetting and stock settings as per manual with standard air filter and box. Air screws on one and a half turn out from bottom as manual says. But i wonder if i shall try to live on the edge end try another half turn out...

Adjusting airscrew will only make a difference at lower revs. Getting them set up properly will make a world of difference tho.
