I will be fitting a new Foam filter to a standard air box but I cant remember if I should oil the foam or leave it dry?
Apologies for the basic question but its been a while...

Oil it then squeeze out as much as you can.
Think the Haynes manual says 10w-30 engine oil but I always use 2 stroke oil on mine.

yea i vaguely remembered using 2T oil on my RD about 30 years ago!

Just buy a genuine Yam one
Cheap enough and pre oiled

I remember back in the day the best power came from running an empty airbox rather than the single pod filters.
