Hello everybody, great site , I've been drifting around the site for a while now and thought I'd say hello and post some pics of my FII, taken today I've owned RD's in the past RD250E, RD350LC, RD350YPVSFI and a TDR250 and bought this FII a few months ago, I have a 1200K6 Bandit and a road legal RM125 green laner too. I ain't had an RD for about 20 years now and figured it was way too long ;D It's still original paintwork, tho I may get a sticker kit for it to finish it off, can anyone recommend a good place to get one ? I've painted the discs, calipers, exhausts, swingarm and a few other little bits 'n' bobs and spent about 10 hours with all the paintwork a bottle of G3 rubbing compound a TV and lots of coffee ;D it came up nice tho I think. I've replaced all the disc, fairing and sprocket bolts, handlebar grips, front indicator grommets and exhaust gaskets with new genuine yam bits, with a new chain and sprockets, tyres (BT45's) and fitted new fork seals and caliper seals all round. I still have a few little jobs to do, the mirrors are scruffy, suspension needs attention, new bushes and the arms are pretty corroded, I'm gonna get some new ones from nk racing I think, unless someone has some good ones for sale ? And the bellypan has had a lug snapped off the back at some point and I just need to make a bracket to hold it to the middle fairing. It's a UK bike with 21,000 miles on it, matching numbers and one key fits all. Which is nice . I had a look up the exhaust port before I refitted the exhausts and it's been tuned at some point, I'll probably take the barrels off after the gritters have been out to see if it needs anything, but for now I'm just gonna ride it. ;D Just been taxed and tested. I think I'll keep this one and buy another to tidy up as I've enjoyed tinkering with this one so much, I must've cought the RD bug off this site.... Anyhow, enough of my waffling here's the pics. Sorry about the non RD pics, I just could'nt help it ;D ;D ;D BanjoHolic

Hiya stroker, As far as I know this is a UK bike in Faraway Blue and it came with lots of history, I have an old logbook dating back to 1992 and it was blue then, the paintwork is standard and has never been painted (I've spent enough time polishing it, and trust me, I know....lol) the logbook states date of first registration 9-11-1987.....date of first registration in the UK 9-11-1987 and states declared new at first registration, it was apparently sold from Petite & France in Redcar and the guy I bought it from said he knew the original buyer and was very credible and the bike has stayed in the North East since new. I'm not sure if Faraway Blue was an official UK colour, but I am sure they were sold in the UK as an old friend of mine from back in the day bought a brand new one in Faraway Blue from a Yamaha dealer in Westgate Road, Newcastle maybe Kens or M&S, as I remember it they were so popular in the UK back then that they could'nt get enough of them and they shipped them in from Europe and were sold as UK bikes with UK specs from Yamaha dealers. Maybe someone with far more knowledge on this kind of thing than me will comment. Thanks for the warm welcome Gaz even tho I'll have to mow the grass now I was going for that well known Powervalve in the jungle kind of picture ;D It's not fully restored but it's good enough for me and I'm sure I'll pick away at it as time goes by, it needs a number plate holder and a few bits and bobs to get it really nice and standard but if I go down that route it'll be a never ending task and I've allready found out that some stuff is no longer available and whoever coated the frame has coated the rear indicator brackets and other bits, so i'd just be making lots of work for myself to get it standard and I just want to ride it ;D, tho it could be a cold damp boring winter........who knows !!!! Hi Banjo & welcome to the Forum.
Lovely looking F2 mate.
Gaz, you beat me to it on the grass front! lol. I was gonna say something like "with all those bikes you probably dont have time to service the lawnmower"!
But as Banjo says, He was going for the "beast in the wild look". lol.

Thanks for all the kind words, you guys ;D ;D And don't worry, now that I'm aware that I'm on the RDLC-Crazyaboutgardening forum any further pics will have all you, pipe smoking, pigeon fancying, allotment dwellers catered for, I'll either mow the lawn or nip round me mams on my bike with my camera, her gardens always nice. ;D ;D ;D I'm chuffed you all like my bike ;D I've been leafing through it's history and it looks like it's always lived in the Guisbourgh, Saltburn, Ingleby Barwick area around Teeside and I'm only the 4th owner since 1992 (I'm the 10th in total) Two guys had it for 8 years each and the chap I got it from had it for 1 year and bought it from his pal to restore and ill health meant he could no longer do it, so it went on ebay and as it was close by I popped up to view it and bought it there and then , it's been tested yearly and I have most of the test certificates since september 2000 and it's done 203 miles from then till now, one year only 7 miles, theres even an old tax disc here from 06-07 that's never been used and is still square with the perforations intact, looks like it's been driven to the test station and back for years, which is pretty much what the guy told me, I might have a ride through on it to Petite and France in Redcar as it's only about 20 miles away and see if I can get a period plate made up and also see if they have any info on the bike. Stroker, I imagine a rm250 with small wheels would be quite a handful on the road mate, you should do it, and can I have a go when it's finished the guy I go green laning with bought a new YZ 250 a few years ago and said it was too quick for him, he said it was the only bike he'd ever had that would flip while riding down hills, he has a 06 RM125 now, same as mine, us old duffers can't hang onto something that vicious any more Cheers scruff, I am actually going to the Stafford show on Sunday with a pal in his van for a snoop about, he has a 83 YPVSLCII, German import, we're maybe looking for a project each and some bits and pieces, so I'll look for this Simon chap and maybe a round reflector it does look shocking, thats all I see now when I look at the pics.... And Cheers Mellow, for years I was convinced, like you, that the Red/White ones were the fastest YPVS's, I mean it's obvious innit.........Then I got a Blue one, and I can confidently report that Blue ones are quicker Regards BanjoHolic

Where did that pic come from parrott I don't think I've seen that one..... I know I'm a big lad, but fook me I'm even bursting out of the orange bib...lol You got me searching through my pics now....Good old days, when we were'nt scared of falling off ;D 350LC with an ARD (Armstrong racing developments, newcastle) proddy tuned engine. You can see Parrott500's yellow wheel behind me, allways behind eh Parrott..lol....till the race started of course My old FI which I bought for £650 and was accident damaged, needed a fairing, fairing brackets, clocks and other bits and bobs. I plastic coated everything either black or white, had a mate spray it white and sent the top end to Stan Stephens for a stage 2 tune ;D and of course the Microns. The guys nicknamed it the fridge....... Aircooled 250 with LC pipes, bought in a box for £130 with a plastic coated frame, it just needed building up and spraying. A Sunday ride out, 4 powervalves, you can just see my aircooled 250 wheel poking out between the powervalve wheels and thats a VF400F with Parrott500 getting off the back. A few more of my old bikes It's funny how you allways save the best till last.... Parrott500 "fixing" his powervale at our local track after a spill Hope you all liked my pics.
