Been away in Cornwall for two weeks, nice time, weather OK, and good food and drink considering the measures in place, nice break. Came home today to find one of the garden shed doors open, and sons bike missing, really weird as other sheds were untouched, and in the same shed was my new petrol lawnmower and strimmer, still there. Can see they came and went via the front, but for some reason the ring door bell camera picked up nothing, so no leads as to when it happened in the time I was away, pretty hacked off someone has been on my property, and something feels very fishy (Son no longer lives with us and is constantly after money)

Since getting the lc, I’ve stepped up security a bit. I know you not supposed to injure poor thieves but one thing I’ve started doing is leaning a couple of 6ft long 8”x2” planks against the inside of the side door, don’t think an intruder would be expecting that. Bet I forget and t**t myself with them.

I don't like to think its my lad, and he had denied it obviously when I hinted it was a bit strange considering the circumstances, he asked did I think it was him, but didn't accuse him of it. Did keep asking if it was sorted, but just reported it to the police, who obviously can't do anything, and most likely not claim on the house insurance for a £400 bike, as. 1 excess will deduct a fair bit from it, and 2 increased premiums over the next few years will eradicate the rest and more . Told him its gone and that's that. Gonna spend some time reevaluating security, and have booked a company to install some cctv equipment front and rear, ring doorbells are shite.

Sorry to hear that mate. It's my number 1 nightmare scenario Trouble is, a hoodie and a face mask renders CCTV next to useless, coupled with an overworked, underfunded Police "Service". You still got to have it though as it may deter some. The thought of scumbags walking past my house and seeing the contents of my garage affects massively what I do with my bikes, and I rarely have my garage door open, just in case some "bottom feeder" see's what's in their. Keep meaning to get the 12 bore shotgun alarm wired in, mounted at head height for maximum affect Dusty

Some drugs can make otherwise decent people do terrible things, the more secure you make your property look, the more chance someone will take interest in it, theory being why have security when you have nothing worth taking, I know most of the toe rags in my area and have been told they look for places that look like they have something expensive in them, an overgrown run down looking place is less likely to draw attention than a clean well locked up camera'd up place, they don't car if they get seen on camera as they just wear a face covering which renders cameras useless, also they don't really care if they get caught, occupational hazard, and if you tried to stop them you would most likely get hurt or worse, most carry knives, they just don't care, the bag of whatever is more important to them, police are a waist of space these days, they just give you a crime number and tell you to claim off insurance, I leave my shed unlocked, nothing of real value in there, my neighbour has a big bar across his shed well secured with cameras, he has been robbed twice, a motorbike they lifted over a 6ft wall and a pushbike on another occasion (expensive one) they just smashed off the bar wrecking the shed too, and nobody see's anything or hears anything, afraid to say in case they get targeted next, I know people that have had spark plugs thrown through their cars windows for informing, the world has changed, locks and security only keep out honest people.

Sorry to hear about that mate,, it's the times I guess when I was younger a boy I mean we never used to lock our doors leave bikes ect around and it still be therein the morning but all that has changed, different generations, myself I aquired a dog, it's an German shepard trained by an ex soldier I know,, its a nice dog but has certain words which only myself and the Mrs know and it a world of hurt,, it will let strangers in the house, but won't let them out period!, not for everyone know , cctv ect is a deterant at best, as mentioned wot can one do,, you can't apparently take the law into your own hands says the law,,, hence the dog,

Have a dog, albeit a mini Schnauzer, but he's a barky b*****d when he hears any noise, they are all like that, very alert, generations ago they were used in conjunction with GSD, the Schnauzer would alert the larger dog who was protecting flocks .....
He was away with us.
Son has vehemently denied any involvement obviously, got quite irate to the point of protesting too much.
Three sheds at bottom of garden, and my garage, can't see into any of them to see what's in there, only his shed opened (latch unscrewed, no damage) and his bike taken, it was targeted for sure, possibly his "mates" who saw we were away, or he owed someone some money and that was the payback. He left around February time after he got unbearable to live with.

Sorry to hear this it’s not a nice place to be in. You’re lad may or may not have been involved but sadly even if dibble did attend if the only prints found were his you’ve plausible deniability his prints etc should be there. The facts it’s been unscrewed shows a level of planning were it just a scrote bag head they just jemmy it, they’d also have screwed the other sheds and garages and then probably screwed the house. You’ve the semi professional billy who’ll target houses with the opportunity to make some dosh generally they’ll avoid houses with alarms, cctv reason being easier places to screw and chances are property will be smart watered etc too much chance of getting caught, then you’ve desperate bag heads they’ll generally also avoid the above but they’ll be far less discerning and it’s opportunity. If it was known you were away both types would have done the house. Forcing entry is as easy as through most double glazed doors pop the bottom panel you’re in. Sounds very much like it was done to order and targeted as you say. You have to work on the basis of making it as awkward as possible for your place to be done. Make someone else’s home more attractive to screw. Problems are when you’re away , think of points of entry and I’m a big believer in the shotgun cartridge alarm. Take it easy buddy 👍

I believe as long as they are safely positioned there is sufficient warning and they aren’t aimed at anyone it’s like a big banger. # this doesn’t constitute legal advice if you fit them and are subsequently prosecuted don’t blame me and always always always have a brief even if you did nowt wrong. #
