I purchased a new Hi Lev or Hi Lex (is there a difference?) throttle cable for my 350 (4L0) but found that the oil pump cable was not long enough. After hours of adjustment there was still no joy. I managed to remove the old oil pump cable from my original assembly and fit it to the new one and all works well. Is this a common issue, as Ive read about this before. My old cable slide cables were frayed but the oil pump cable was ok.

Just fitted one of Norbo's Jap LC2 cables to my N1, perfect fit for the oil pump, aftermarket cables are at best poor fit. Get one as they are a reasonable price from Norbo. Andy.

It was from Norbo. I’m wondering if I was sent an LC 2 cable

4L0 cables have been discussed at length on here. For those who search and find this thread later, lets tell it like it is... If you want one that fits in 2020, then you need to buy an OEM one. LCs are worth good money now, the 100quid it costs is nothing on the value of your bike and it will work for decades.

Absolutely agree with what Jon says. Genuine Yam is fit and forget - expensive, yes, but only when comparing to cheap copies, and it's a part that will cause all sorts of problems if it's not correct. Having said that, I had one of Norbo's Jap pattern Lc cables a couple of builds ago and it fitted and worked perfectly, but last I heard he had sold out of them ? I recently bought a new Yam throttle cable from Fowlers for my 400e. £66.82 plus post. I doubt it's much different to an Lc cable, which is £105.18 plus post. Yamaha have some pretty crazy pricing ! You think that's bad ! Some years back, a genuine pv base gasket was approx. a fiver. Then, literally overnight, Yamaha hiked the price up to £35 . I used to get all my parts from Granby's back then, and they were as shocked as everyone else. So buying 2 base gaskets were gonna cost £70 !! The price has since dropped - they are now about 23 quid each from Fowlers I think. You can normally find a pair on ebay for around £15 though so you need to hunt around a bit. Genuine cables rarely give trouble though, and unless Norbo can get those great Jap pattern cables again, it's the only option really. Dusty

Its a bit of a dick dance but in the past i have made my own cables . I have bought throttle cables in the past with this issue ,a lot of the time the oil one was to long and i have put a piece of tube as a spacer at the case end .

Just dredging up this oldie but goodie to say I have recently taken delivery of a gen-you-wine Yamaha 4L0 throttle cable, and it is a thing of beauty. The quality is so much better than the garbage pushed out by Shambits, it’s fcuking shocking. 10x the quality for 5x the price ... it’s a no brainer.

Ive come to the conclusion, buy cheap, buy twice - for parts.

I never understand why people moan about the price of these throttle cables. Sure they are not cheap, but nor is an LC now. You defo get what you pay for with a throttle cable.
