Folks
I have started to look at fitting the VAPE Power Dynamo to my LC and wonder if someone has any pic's of their installation?
In particular the Ignition Coil mounting & wiring & Rec'/Reg' mounting & wiring.
Any pointers very welcome.
Cheers.
Mark

Hi. I fitted mine myself about a year ago. I haven’t got any pics but I can take some this weekend if you still need them. I bought mine from Mutts and he supplied the wiring diagram which is easy to follow. I mounted my reg/rec on the same panel as the original and the coil/cdi up by the old coil. I also had to cut the wires off the old stator to get the grommet to use on the power dynamo. I also ran a new wire for the neutral switch. I also lapped the rotor onto the crank. Has made a big difference in general running. The old system was behaving erratically.

I was looking at the coil last night and will draw up a bracket and get that 3d printed to check before making it in ally. Also figured the Rec/Reg can use a combination of the existing holes, so that's fine. Wiring seems OK and the instructions are quite concise & I assume they're the same as mine which are the ones on Norbo's web site? I've splashed out on a new grommet and have some lapping paste, so a good idea to give it some fettling. Cheers.

I also stripped out all the under seat wiring to do with the old reg/rec and stator.

I am considering the vape also, what are the drawbacks of the stock 82 ignition system, also what shock is that? I also stripped out all the under seat wiring to do with the old reg/rec and stator.

I guess the fact it’s nearly a 40 years old system. I’m no expert. The shock is a YSS from muttsnuts on this site. Vast improvement over the standard 40 year old shock. Rebuildable too 👍🏻

I should also add I was having a lot of ignition problems that I couldn’t solve so bit the bullet and got a modern system.
