Hi. I recently bought ypvs engine cases off ebay. I didnt inspect the photos properly in the add. Can you see where I'm going...... Right I opted to collect as he lived near to where I make a delivery, being a lorry driver. It happened to be absolutely pissing it down so just done a very quick collect and exchange of money case etc. A couple hours later I checked my new 31k cases and was not happy as to what I see with the engine numbers. A very good job had been done but i just knew it had been restamped over the first 4 numbers beginning with 8. Which I knew is not correct. I called the police straight away told them what had happened they said the number is ok .send pic. Which I did they still told me all seems to be ok. What do you guys think?

defo them... Return em as per ebay's return policy. Yes you should have looked at the pics before you bought em, but they are hokey for sure. The fact he says 'UNDAMAGED / UN TAMPERED ENGINE NUMBER' is what you can return them for, as this is not any number than yamaha ever would have used. If you look at this table, yamaha never started any 31K with an 8. www.rd350lc.net/pageVIN.htmThe 8's are also not clean and have obviously got something else under them. They are also too big compared to the last digits. zooming in on the pics shows this clearly. I will say that you should have checked this up front really, he has left clear pics of what he was selling. But... a restamped engine number is what it is, ie. wrong.

If you have to go through eBay to request a return, as "not as described", they will be able to see the message I sent to the seller advising that the numbers had been altered, so he cannot say he did not know.
Just request a return.

Just request a return. It seems I cant request a return as I payed cash on collection. It was agreed that I was going to return them in person but the seller roblc350 changed his mind and started becoming arsy. Apparently he is going in hospital for 3 months to have his leg amputated.

I sent him a pm on here about the cases before they sold and have the pm's available, so he was well aware of the facts.
