I know it's a bit of a how long is a piece of string but I am asking for general experience, what size carbs have been fitted to a 350 YPVS, I'll get a mid range road porting job done, already has a Zeeltronic and Micron exhausts (maybe not the best performance choice but they are period so I like them), I don't want a highly strung thing that only feels right when thrashing, So are 28mm keihin carbs big enough when the porting and plus 1.5mm bore is done or should I go bigger ? I don't think I need to be looking at TZ style 38mm power jet carbs, just a general opinion please

28's are more than enough
Even the standard 26's are good for 70hp
The pwk's will help the midrange

A TZ is a piston port motor so will need much larger carbs than same size reed valve motor. As above 28, with 30, 32 as absolute max are useable.

Thanks for the replies, PWK 28,s it is then,
Re the TZ carbs, I ran a 350 TZ in my miss spent younger days so I am well aware what one is, still my favourite bike ever, just so amazingly good at it's intended use, fantastic things, everyone should have a few sessions on a TZ or if it's possible a similar spec RD,
I was just making a point that I don't want great big carbs on it, not usually the making of a good road ride.

Pwks work well. Better than their Nominal throat size suggests. They are of far More advanced design than the usual mikunis.

Hi Ozzy i just want say keep an eye out when you adjust your throttle cable to suit the 28 mm PWK's the amount of movement in the 1 into 3 cable slide is critical. If it's a little out the slides wont lift all the way up, you could end up with 3/4 throttle instead of full throttle.
