Nice 😎
I lost the last pic of mine years ago when a laptop died
Mine was an earlier B4 in the met red/silver/purple
Missed the power of my 1000 exup but the handling was miles better

I had the blue C1 of that model, loved it, as you say, drop that front sprocket 1 tooth and have fun ! - I just build big 2 stroke engines now for the same daft grin factor !

Had an E1 from new. Got a mad deal on it. 5800 had it for 16 years and sold it for 3000.
One of my better buys. Great bike.

Never rode the 9R, but often looked at them as I had a 1997 6R from new. loved that bike, you could ride it off the stop everywhere. it had great induction noise too with the scoops, did the 9R have the same noise?
Ive had a look online, some good early (B model) ones here but not so many good C-onwards versions. Reviews I read suggest the B was a heavy badly suspended dog... hmm... that seems harsh... but is it?

Reviews I read suggest the B was a heavy badly suspended dog... hmm... that seems harsh... but is it? Yes my B4 had the roar They did say it was overweight and slated it a bit but it was a revelation to me Maybe playing on track with it showed these things but on the road it was excellent My previous H plate FZR 1000 was heavy, cramped, and although planted mid corner the corner entry was a kind of throw it in and hope for the best The 9r was the first bike I owned that you could feel the understeer and oversteer through the bars and pegs. You could go into corners at stupid speeds and still scrub off some speed tipped over if you over cooked it. All day comfy too I missed the midrange grunt of the exup though Eventually traded it in for a new Fazer 1000 That was a bit of a disappointment at first as the handling was very wallowy and soft And strangely not as grunty as the old FZR. Still fealt you needed 8k before anything really happened After that I moved to a new 06 R1. They slated that for being gutless Couldn't believe even running in at 6900 max how stupid fast it was Don't know where some of these journos got their material from 🙄 Steve

Great info Steve. I went from the 6R to an 01 R1 which is one of the reasons I missed the 9R as I test rode the R1 and was smitten so ordered one. It was a big jump up from the 6R, tho I reckon the 9R would have been more than enough really, my other choice that year was the new non-srad GSX750 which I really did love riding as well.
I found a nice C1 9R here which is tempting... hmm...

I found a nice C1 9R here which is tempting... hmm... Funny you say that about the r1 and gsxr After I'd had the Fazer 1000 for a few years I went to a dealer in 2006 with my wife interested in a pre registered gsxr750 k5 I was talking to the sales guy about the 750 and he said he could do it for £7.5k I was undecided so the sales guy tries involving my Mrs to try and tip me over. She replies "I don't like it, I prefer that red one" and points at an unregistered 05 R1 I thought there would be no chance but he said that was £7.5 as well. My tongue fell out at that point And he had a demonstrator 😁 I went back with my helmet/jacket and took the R1 out It was a couple of miles from where the shop was through traffic before some open road. As soon as I'd pulled away from the shop I was thinking it was too uncomfy and didn't like it. No way was I buying it 10 mins later it was like a bucking bronco scrambling for grip and struggling to keep the front down Yep, i bought one 🤣 Steve
