Hi All, Just a query about the work done on the inlet port of these early 4L0 barrels. The inlet has been opened up. Is this good or bad ? Depending on advice from you folks, I may move them on. I have a 350R. I am sure the cylinder head is somewhere. My vernier will not give a digital display so just took a rough measurement. Thanks, Terry

Quick update, I have just checked the other barrel (which I should have done in the first place !) Turns out this is not tuned and is actually the later type 4L0. So I have a pair of mismatched barrels ! I will try to source a cheap vernier and measure the bore. I am sure I can trade the good barrel for something. Regards, Terry

It's Not possible to 'measure the Bore" with a caliper. One needs a bespoke bore gauge used by experienced hands. Otherwise a Ruler is as accurate

Terry. Would you not try to get both barrels port matched. Not that difficult to do to be honest. It wouldn’t matter then if you used a later and newer barrel then as they are both the same inside. The barrel doesn’t look too bad. Bore them both out to take the same pistons.

Good idea tacky1,
The problem I have is I have no bike to put them on ! I have a 350R. Good idea though. I also have another small problem with getting any machining work on barrels etc. There is no one that I know of in Ireland that does this work. There are no 2 strokes except for small scooters. The two last places that I knew of closed their doors many years ago. Cheers, Terry
