I'm building a hybrid and am going to recess the rear light, I have a standard unmolested rear number plate holder which I was going to cut up, but it seems these are worth something is this true? I know a LC125 will fit, but obviously if the original is of some value to someone I may put it up for sale.

I know a LC125 will fit, but obviously if the original is of some value to someone I may put it up for sale. If its uncut without any extra holes drilled in it and in good condition, it will sell for at least £150 on ebay, best to put it up for I would say at least £200 buy it now with offers and see what happens. Up to you though.

By the way, the 125 one will work, but if you still have the rear mudguard, then you will have to cut a little out where it meets the mudguard.

Cheers Tony , much appreciated, it's generally in good condition, but it has got the odd drill hole, pretty much what you would expect after 40 years, time for a deep clean me thinks!!

Exactly but someone is determined to continue to raise the prices of Lc bits almost as though they are funding their wives, they are a relatively new member on the forum who appears to be intent on causing a scene. I’m sure their is no doubt a excuse for their behaviour. Mean while the adults amongst us will continue to advocate to keep prices at a place the majority can benefit from. Just my thoughts and as said member has stated numerous times we should be allowed free speech it just appears that the said individual is only happy if the freedom of speech aligns with their views. Go figure.

Bit harsh Tony 🤨 Think minters are usually listed on ebay at £150 ish. Usually with offers. No way of knowing what they go for. You are right though the extra holes will lose it £50 The problem with eBay is that if an item becomes hard to find people start pushing their luck If a rarer part usually sells for £100 then some one will stick one up for £150 If a desperate or loaded person buys it then it is assumed that is the price. Next one gets listed at £170 and so on There does get a point when sellers have no shame The price of heroin doesn't go up when a junkie is rattling Look at the horn brackets. Everybody sold them till the tooling broke Then folk were trying to sell them for £100 Now they can't get rid of them again. It's like bog roll at the start of lockdown Horn covers are there now Steve I think what you say is right, but that's the market, that's just the way it is, I gave the guy a good idea of what to sell his item for, simples. It also depends on the day, some days they go for more, and when 2 people are bidding against something it can go through the roof, same as any auction. Ps, you can tell what they go for, you either sell it yourself and learn that way, or you can use the ebay search engine to see the sold items, simples.

But how do the 125 units fit on an LC LOL !!! They bolt straight on by the 2 bolts on tool tray part, it pulls the rear light back nicely, but you do have to cut a bit out where it meats the rear mudguard, that is if you have the rear mudguard.

Hi All, I didn't mean to start world war 3 I was just after a bit of advice. Tony as I said, I much appreciated all of the advice you gave me.
So here's my money's worth, I could have damaged a perfectly good part that someone who is restoring a standard machine might need, and I would be destroying it for no reason as a cheaper alternative to the look I want is available (the 125 LC Part). Yes I will be trying to get the maximum amount of money for the part, the reason is unlike (seemingly) some people on here I am not a wealthy man and have been building my LC on a budget for almost 2 years now. I will start the auction at a reasonable price, but like everything else it will be a case of supply versus demand, however rest assured any money I do make on this part will be ploughed back into the LC community when I use it to buy further parts I need.
Veg - interesting views, I can see your a man who like's Phishing.

Input is always appreciated and debate is good
But
Do you not see the tone (no pun) in some of your responses is a bit off to say the least
If half a dozen people take your tone as offensive then chances are you are being offensive
The original poster is quite within his right to want the going rate for his parts. I sell stuff on eBay too
I think the point may have been that putting it on ebay with a decent starting price will get you the max money and more likely either the going rate or slightly higher
Simply sticking it on at £200 just either puts people off or makes everyone start selling them at £200
If you list something on a buy it now and it hasn't sold in 3 days then your price is a bit salty
Yes it's good to make money selling stuff that way and if you are a dealer may suit you fine
If however if you are a mere hobbyist like 95% of us it merely as stated prices the next part you need out your reach
Yes some on here sell below eBay prices but the thought behind that is one good turn deserves another so next time you put a wanted ad up you get a better response and price. Swings and roundabouts
Don't imply we are stupid
As for calling veg vag, people may not agree with you but nobody is calling you tonytw4t2stroke
A bit of decorum please
Steve

You've not started anything mate 👍 Some people just don't get on together I see 125 bits sell for 25 - 30 so may be worth a gamble even if you have to mod it Also the metal ones from norbo are good as you can adjust how much rebated you want the tail light or even change it if you need a bit of underseat storage for 2t oil on a long run Selling yours will buy one and give you some money for other stuff Steve

Never called you anything, just highlighted an example of how offensive it could be
Call me midlifecrisisRsole, it's the same thing
Was just saying disagreeing is one thing, name calling and insults are another
Not sticking up for anybody either, just preferred being on here without agro
Asking for decorum isn't insulting, offensive or preaching
I'll shut the f*ck up now

"Flare up's" as a good friend and forum member calls them are very few and far between on here, thankfully, and long may it continue that way. The friendly feel of this forum, regardless of who you are, what you ride, or don't ride, and how long you've been here make it the best forum out there, by a long way. Banter is one thing, we all like a bit of banter, but when it goes beyond that it becomes tedious and not a fun place to be. And there have been a few posts lately that have lacked respect and the general standards we all usually enjoy. It's easy to get carried away on a keyboard, in the comfort of your own home, and things are said that cant be easily unsaid. I for one, never hit the "post" button until I've read my words through, and make sure not to be offensive in any way, and on the very rare occasions I feel angry about something, I usually steer clear of posting anything at all. I think the vast majority of us are probably the same. This is my escape, my place away from the world that is slowly tearing itself apart. We all have our own problems, worries, responsibilities that keep us awake at night, and your time spent here, talking bikes with your mates, is supposed to be a safe haven from all the sh*t life throws at you. Some of the stuff I've read recently doesn't have a place here, coz it brings it down. I know we all have opinions - I have plenty too, but I keep them to myself if I think it may cause offence. No one here is any more important than anyone else, so I hope normal service can be resumed asap And if you want an argument, go on the aircooled forum and start a post about "which is the best piston for an aircooled" !! Some pretty excitable guys over there Life is short - don't f**k it up Dusty

People can sell what ever they have for what ever they like . Thi post was reported not by any one involved in the disagreement but never the less Ive had to come on hear and delete some post as it was getting bit personal.
Personally i think £100 is a far price for an uncut number plate part and £50 for a cut one . But then i never charge a lot for used parts and on this forum we need to help each other with sensible prices and not be like the people on e bay askinga fortune for stuff we are a comunity helping each other with parts and advice ,
