I'm Currently rebuilding a 350 LC Engine that came with a 35mm round Boost Bottle instead of just a Balancing Pipe between the Reed Valve intakes! Whats the point of the Bottle any Advantages? And is a 350 Balancing Pipe Bigger than a 250 Cheers Sean G

250 and 350 balance pipes are the same. I haven't any experience with the boost bottle myself but most people on here seem to indicate they are a waste of time if you scan through old posts.

Boost bottles may look nice, but not seen any make a measurable difference on a dyno. Maybe the placebo effect??

I don't think they do much for our type of bikes but up the tiny 50cc race bikes they are very effective.

So Guys what does Boost Bottle do? I thought it was just to Balance pressures between but I'm No 2 Stroke Guru!

So Guys what does Boost Bottle do? I thought it was just to Balance pressures between but I'm No 2 Stroke Guru! The main idea behind a boost bottle is for when open throttle it causes the bottle to suck in so to speak, when you shut off the throttle, the bottle sucks up wasted fuel that would otherwise be sent out the back of the carb, then when you open throttle again it gives you a boost of mixture that was sucked up when you shut off the throttle, this is also going on at a very small amount all the time as engine is running. It helps to eliminate that lag you get when going down hill and you open the throttle too. That is my understanding of it.

Bottle was a defacto reservoir/plenum of Fuel/air mix. Worked 'some' on teeny engines. Did Eff all on bigger ones. Even yama deleted it after one MY on their small Dirt bikes.. where they first tried it.

Even yama deleted it after one MY on their small Dirt bikes.. where they first tried it. The DT125LC in production until 2008 had a boost bottle throughout its production. RGVs and later RS250s also used a large balance pipe, which uses the other side cylinder as a type of boost bottle.

I removed the 2 separate boost bottles on my 3XV. Not lost any power! The TZ250 4DP has no boost bottles.
