Guys, I am in the market for a prefabricated garage, I've been looking and ringing around and its a bit of a minefield TBH, so thought I'd ask if anybody has recently bought one (last 5 years or more) or has one and could let me know their thoughts on the issues problems with them e.g. condensation and if bought in the last 5+ years who you used e.g. Nucrete, Hanson etc, etc
I am looking for all and any feedback or experience so I can make an informed decision
Thanks in advance

Are you looking to put a car in it Dave, or use it for something else ? Dusty

something else, mainly storage, not bothered about a bit on condensation, more about who I get it from etc and any issues like quality of product, thickness of walls etc

Would a decent shed not be a better bet if it's just for storage ? Look nicer, warmer, less condensation, easier to insulate, possibly cheaper to buy and easier to build. Probably easier to add on to if necessary too Dusty

I knocked mine down due to not being easy to hang things or run electrics but it never had much trouble with condensation because of the openings under the roof panels Also up and over doors nick a lot of roof and space by the door Plenty of spiders 🕷 though

whats the garage like, just some have very thin walls and cheap shitty roofs etc, so any personal recommendation is better than reading various "reviews" online - I am looking to spend a decent amount on the right one

Some good lads at Lidget ken, know their onions. that's what I want hear, I'd sooner pay a little more for a good installation etc, than a little less and get crap - Hanson Garages are a good price, but their reviews have put me right off !

Had a 18x20 ft lidget /Compton garage built 5 years ago to replace a single that was already there. Roof has a coating inside (can't recall its name) that eliminates condensation, I've never suffered any at all, nothing dripping from the roof ever. Double up and over doors with 4 point locking (Also added extra myself) and very pleased with it. They have a huge range of various types of garages, local agent is not too far away so I could get a good idea first before order, erection team were spot on, and had it up in no time. Had one issue when the personnel door became hard to close due to it dragging on the frame base, which was actually down to it being placed pretty close to the seam of the two concrete bases I had laid, too big to pour in one go, but they came out and re shimmed it 4 years after build, 10 year warrenty on the garage itself.

Yep. i still have it the roof is coated to decrease condensation. It did leak from the back edge where water ran back in underneath due to a bit of warpage. To give them their due they did come out and put another whole roof on but it still leaked. They came out again and sealed all the roof. Still leaked under back edge. They came down from up north. even had the managing director come down with his top man to investigate to see what the problem was and how they could possibly improve the design to stop it. In the end i discovered the batten on the rear wall that the roof mounts to was high in a couple of places. I rectified this by doing a couple of mods and hopefully it is sorted, has not leaked for the last 6 months. If it leaks again i'll be putting a solid epdm covered roof on like butcher did It's a good building, just a roof issue. but you are sorted now

They come up all the time second hand just keep an eye open . All so when i did one at my first house i went to the place that made them and they had ones with small cracks in them and i got the panels for £5 each so it cost very little to build it they even had uses ex display steel roofs . only think i needed new was the steel security door, so thats worth a think as well .
