Do better quality pistons work better in terms of power output, due to porting accuracy than say the cheaper end of the market if such a thing exists ?

I would say better quality pistons produce more RELIABLE power for longer, with less chance of going bang. Which in turn prolongs the life of accocaited engine parts. Less reliable items are just not worth the hassle.

As above really
Any piston nowadays will be of a good enough tolerance
Whether the cast is even enough to stop cracking on the cheap Thai ones is another question
Ultimately forged for a high power motor for strength but the cheap cruzin image pistons get a good write up in standard motors

The 125 gp crowd report that cast pistons give slightly more power than forged pistons, but we are talking very small margins that are not relevant to anyone here imho.
Ran forged Wiseco pistons in juniors RM85 and RM125 for far longer than the recommended hours with no problems.
Personally I stick with Mitaka or Wiseco in the japanese stuff and Vertex in the KTM`s.
