Hi everyone Thought I would introduce myself and say hello for my first post - if you hadn't guessed I'm new to the forum but not new to LC's I started with air cooled RD200 (peardrop tank) in 1981 GBK 960N - come on how many of us remember out first reg Then came a RD250DX, then a RD400DX, then my first RD350LC, then finally my brand new 31K, bought in June 1983 making it one of the first in the country I believe - which I loved and adored and love and adored and still miss and if I ever catch up with the person who stole it...... I'm currently looking to get myself another 31K - so if anyone's selling (you'll be ad if you are IMO!!) let me know When I was 16 I made a new friend at school, he'd come from London and was from a wealthy family, he didn't want to move so his dad said to him "what will make you move" he just said "buy me a new RD250LC and I'll move with you - he got it on his 17 birthday - he was a good mate, but boy did I envy his sparkling new RD250LC!! He used to crash it on a regular basis and I kept stock of handlebars, indicators, levers etc for him and he would come to my council estate and I would fix it for him so his mum wouldn't take it away!! And yes he used to let me ride it So that's my story.....so far....I've heard this is the best Elsie forum by far Cheers Paul

I've been on lots of different bike forums over the years but this really is the place to be for all things Rd !! Good luck with your search The 31k PC's are fantastic bikes😉

Thanks Dusty I'm pretty sure I love RD's more than life itself - not sure what it is about them, actually I do, but it can't be put into words as we all know Looking forward to getting one and being a regular on here. Actually, when I had my 31K I was rear ended by a drunk - he didn't have a license or even insurance and of course me being broke had only Third Party Fire and theft so I had to strip the bike down and get the frame straightened, replace all the broken parts (thankfully not many as I managed to miraculously stay on it!!) I became a bit of a YPVS specialist back in the day to the point where a local bike dealer used to point people in my direction for any knowledge - lets hope I can remember some shizzle and be useful here!! Paul

HI Shaun, don't see him anymore, he sold his RD250LC and bought a four stroke - actually a Laverda 1200 Mirage, I remember riding it and saying, why did you sell your Elsie for that piece of S**t

Oh I also forgot the RD250LC prodi racer I bought as well, with 2 Stan Stephens engines - and I spoke to the very legend today - it was like speaking to RD royalty

Welcome paul There are several 31k specialists on here, incl Matt n Steve as well as others, they’re the ones to bother for a bike. Good choice almost as cool as a 4L0. As dusty says probably the friendliest and nicest forum here very very little animosity even when we don’t agree with each other we all agree about the bikes, oh and that sheene speed blocks are the fastest. 👍

Cheers veg Haha, I do like sheene speed blocks for sure - I actually race...well I'm not going to mention it as it doesn't have 2 wheels, but it hails from 1984! and I wanted to paint my racing lid with the speed blocks My 31K was New Pearl White with a Fire Red frame DRT 242Y

Hi Paul, welcome in
As veg says I'm a right sucker for a 31k
Tend to build one a year, been doing that for 11 years now 🙄
I will have one for sale as soon as I replace the faulty temp gauge but top dollar I'm afraid as a new hybrid build
Steve

Hi Steve Glad you introduced yourself, OK so prey tell what is a hybrid build? - I think they're all top dollar these days to be fair Paul A hybrid is a bike is built from parts from other bikes Usually more modern stuff to make it go, stop and handle more like a modern bike Usually USD forks, big swing arms, 17 inch wheels and modern brakes I've done a good few concourse builds, some modern modified stuff and the latest build was to update it to more modern running gear but keep the "old" look Build thread here rdlccrazy.proboards.com/thread/48895/31k-retro-hybrid?page=1Steve

Hi and welcome to the forum. As dusty says this is a real friendly place, lots of info freely given, problem solvers in abundance, a good mix of owners with original (best) LC, and the later ypvs versions. Forum is very busy, plenty of post's every day, and most visit several times a day, plenty of bike forums its not worth checking twice a week Even without a bike there is plenty to read in all the sections, keep you busy for hours at a time. And a couple of posters up from this is Norbo, who runs this site, and also has runs a parts shop, full of everything you need for these relics, plus so many trick items you didn't think you wanted, but now do.
You've come to the right place.

Welcome in :-)
Considering these bikes have been around for years, there are still new developments going on. Some of the old school stuff may no longer be relevant.

Great introduction Paul. A warm welcome to the Forum, which will gradually suck you in. Great bunch of lads on here, everyone encourages.
If Carlsberg did Forums, wouldn't be as good as this one
