Is there any reason to go with the 31K over 4L0(01) on a bike that doesn't need the vacuum?
I have an opportunity to buy a clean set of 31k carbs, but not sure its worth the switch.
If so, what's the advantage? Is the coated slide that much better? needle taper?
I do have an LC with a YPVS engine in it, running 4L0 carbs... would I notice a difference switching?

31k carbs work really well on a 4L0, lots on here used them, mine ran very good, although I did use early needles. Maybe they are a later Carb so less worn, a lot of the coating on the slides wears off over time, so don't think that's the reason they work well.

Was a bit of a joke with the slide coating... 😉

I too am thinking of fitting a pair of 31k carbs onto a 4LO top end. I have recently picked up a refurbished pair from Shytalk on here for my latest lc project so was wondering too about pros and cons. I am keeping everything else standard(ish) and was wondering about cables etc but haven’t heard anything negative about these carbs other than their age Would be nice to hear some recent thoughts on this

I don't think it makes much difference if jetted correctly.

So, to the guys running 31K carbs on LCs, do you use the 31K needles and emulsion tubes?

They are not really an upgrade, but more of a very similar replacement for the untrained eye. They are a good option if you cannot find any 4L0-01 carbs.

You are running a hybrid anyway, so originality isn't king. I would stick with what you already have if they are working ok. Don't fix what aint broke my old boss you to say!
