I think they all have a philosophy of raising it for existing customers and hope they don't notice, as a lot of them invoke auto-renew. I had it recently with another insurer, and a phone call reduced mine from £176 to £101 so worth making a call to them to see what they can do before you shop around.

I got my renewal from Footman James last year and it had gone up £40 so I rang them and they wouldn’t budge. I’d left it a bit late and with seven bikes on the policy I couldn’t be bothered to ring around for quotes but I’ll be shopping around this year prior to the renewal date and quite happily give FJ the flick.

Just renewed with Peter James today. 350F2 insured with them past 8 years. Added TDR 250 a couple of months ago and price same at renewal as last years premium. Put on Trident 900 and it added another £50. £159 for 3 bikes. Am ok with that!

I'm still without insurance for my smart windy that I bought off arrow.. I have refused to be shafted. How it can be so much more than a modern Honda hornet is beyond me... I'm only fit enough to ride the darn thing on a handful of days per year and asses that the mileage will only be about 500miles..

I’m with footman James my lc special with guaranteed value of £12500 and my Ducati sport classic is £540 which was a bloody shock got full ncb had my full license for over 32 years and no points, I live in a rural location and locked brick garage. Most expensive it’s been for years, it’s the lc that’s ramped it up due to the uniqueness of it.

I've got nine bikes that I could insure... That would be fun to get a price on.... not. The hornet was £80. The windy quote was £140... Hornet up £18 in ten yrs.

I got insurance quotes for my son when he was about to do his A2 license. He wanted a SV650 and it was approx £500. I enquired about prices for him on my XT 500 (£700) and the LC (£850). I put it down to it would cost a lot more to fix replace the older bikes and probably more dangerous for a novice rider. Brakes and lighting not as good as modern stuff?

I've used RH Classic Ins. for many years now, they're part of the Hiscox group and policy's are underwritten by ERS. I've got 3 classics with agreed value varying between £5k - £10k and 2500 limited miles each + a fully comp u/l miles 2017 modern tourer insured with them. This Feb. renewal was £328 which I think isn't bad for bikes being kept garaged in NW London, they don't charge admin fees for any chances during the year either. You can find them here

Loyalty in insurance = Mug ! Yes, it sure seems like that. For the past previous years I've had to 'fight tooth and nail' with mine to get the price down to what were fair/I'm happy to pay. I were on the phone to them for almost an hour last time, good job it's a free phone number. You certainly can't just go by any renewal letter, always check the market first.

My quote from Footman James arrived this morning and as expected it’s gone up £60 so I’ll be shopping around for a better price. As you say there’s no customer loyalty whatsoever with these lot.

Best thing is they probably know we won't be riding them for 6 months , then there was the winter lay up when most of us were not riding Guess theft is the cover you need here

I tried to get laid up insurance for my rg when i was building it ,the quote was the same price with half the benefits (peter james) so I fully insured it ,they couldn’t understand why if it wasn’t on the road, they are are just rip off merchants

About the time this thread started, i got my renewal letter from footman james and it had gone up about 40 quid so as we were all going into lockdown i left it for a bit and said i was going to shop around. I did that a couple of weeks ago and the three bikes on the policy, Vmax, YZF750 and VFR750 all came in about £75 to £100 each compared with £340 for them with FJ. Just for fun, i then went back to FJ on the web and got a quote of £198 for them.. maybe they have dropped the prices to get the business because they were feeling the lockdown pinch..?

Footman James have been taking the piss for years FFS Hi, could I ask if that quote was for 'market value' prices or agreed valuation prices? Coming up to renewal for mine at the end of the month (2 x 350LCs,FZR 1000 genesis,CBR 400RR and a 600 Hornet) not too bothered about the Hornet but I know the 'market value' of the others won't be anywhere near there true value! Also could anyone give advice on getting an agreed valuation, both the LCs are scruffy but one is a one owner low mileage matching numbers etc. Do they go by the condition or the history of the bike? Thanks all.

There are no questions about history but they want about five pictures, you tell what you value it at and they price accordingly
