Not with the DVLA if they are all now working from home
You need to fill in the form for a replacement v5 with a covering note saying you don't have the reg and a £20 cheque

You can do an HPI on the frame number. It should show up the reg number. Then apply for a replacement V5. You don't know the previous owner details as you bought it off eBay with no seller info :-)

I'm going through this with a complete kettle I got from my mates cousin who'd had it over 20 years but couldn't find the v5 and we can't find to ask if he knows the reg.
Applied to DVLA with the frame number but they won't issue a v5 unless I tell them the original reg.
HPI doesn't seem to work on older bikes as the manufacturers made up their own frame and engine numbers until 1981 when the standard 17 digit vin was introduced.
If I can't find the original reg I'll have to get it on an age related plate by getting a dating certificate from an owners club. Or go and knock on some doors to find the lad I got it off, probably the easier option.

I was pointed in the direction of a guy that "specialises" in this You pay him a few and if it's on the system he will tell you the reg. I'll have to try and find his details I tried one but it came back blank as it turned out to be an import Obviously he can't do anything if dvla has wiped it Many have had good results from him Steve

Applied for a V5 for an old Kawasaki 125, I had a very old blue bit of V5, so I had the reg. DVLA came back and said because the bike had not been taxed or MOT for so long they needed more info. I had to take a photo of the complete bike showing the reg plate and the frame number. So be warned they can be t**ts if they want to be.

I had same with an XL100 I was doing up around 4 years ago, I told them I had not built bike yet and it was a pile of parts, they made me take my frame along to Cardiff for inspection.

Contact Suzuki, they can most likely help, when someone buys a part they ask for reg, if this has been recorded you can ask them. I had to do similar with CBR600 I bought that I could not quite make out one frame number, I contacted honda and they were able to tell me the number.
