Hi all. I recently bought a nice RD350N in Germany. There is a lot of surface rust but wheels and engine are nice freely moving. On the papers it said max. speed 138kph. So the power is restricted for insurance purposes. I want to give it it's full power again. The papers says power restriction by 18mm in exhaust and 200 mainjet. I found reduction items in exhaust and removed them. Also ordered a new Keyster Carburettor Gasket Set with 240 main, 22,5 pilot and 5K1 needle. So that should be fine. Are there any other changes made to the carbs restricting the power I have to take care off ?

It's an officially restricted bike then
31k 085 was the ones that were built restricted by Yamaha
The 52y50 was the same did as the unrestricted ones
Unrestricted ones were 31k 077 and 078

Never seen those types of restrictors before, were they welded in or just fitted between barrels and exhausts, as it doesn't look like any cutting or grinding has taken place.

Were just sitting inbetween barrel and exhaust. Once the exhaust was off the fell out Think it was restricted to 27hp for insurance reason.

It also has no side stand. Not grinded off. Just no sidestand. Never seen that on a picture. In the mean time got myself a side stand mount from ebay

Some of the restricted German market bikes had the restrictor very solidly fixed in the exhaust header, needing drilling and grinding out. Annoyingly, the pipes are marked exactly the same 31K-14711, seems Yamaha just used that number for everything.. Xaviers site www.rd350lc.net has details of all the restrictions.
