Hi,
The black insulation on the stator has flaked off to reveal the bare wires underneath. What can I use to replace insulation or will it have to be sent off for professional repair. No problems with electrics before removing stator.
Cheers

Magnet wire is produced with a varnish insulation. For a nice, often clear, sometimes a bit browny, fresh copper colouring. The black Goop is Crap.. An early affectation to protect windings, but all it did was trap heat .. accelerating the degradation ofd the wires insulation varnish. Potting (gooping) windings is rarely done these days. Remembering that Yamaha used to pot their Ignition controllers with goop mixed with Shards of Glass! to protect their "secrets' Effing A holes.
Unless it's somehow exposing genuinely bare copper.. Don't worry about it.

Hi Bare,
Thank you for your response. Set my mind at rest to concentrate on other aspects of project. Cheers!
