Hi everyone, I have just sourced complete top end for my 4lo. Mine being completely ruined. It is on standard bores and looks amazing. But I have just noticed that I have 2 left hand pistons. Now the stupid question.
Will this be ok, or do I have to source another standard bore right piston. If there is such a beast these days.

I have only ever seen original pistons with L & arrow towards exhaust port, I don't think there is a piston with R on it, though each piston should be bored to go with the piston for that cylinder, and with worn items they should stay with the same side they were taken out, as they have worn together they should stay together. Curious to know were they the standard set that just went for ยฃ652.32

That will be my mistake then. As I said it was a stupid question ๐๐ It's not a stupid question. If you didn't ask it might have cost you even more money. If you post some pictures as well members will be able to give more accurate advice.

As Tobyjugs says .... there are no stupid questions.
And the man who tells you he knows everything, is a f**king liar
Two things I've found out over my working life.

I wonder if the 'L' actually means something else rather than 'left' then? It does seem odd why there isn't one marked 'R'at all??

This has been discussed before, without a definitive answer: rdlccrazy.proboards.com/post/298999/threadI can confirm though that the arrow faces the exhaust port and not necessarily forward (ask the 3MA boys). Still no idea what it actually stands for, but as said it canโt be left as Iโve only ever seen them stamped โLโ. Jon

I know I'm getting old, when all the truism 's told me years ago, by old people, I actually realise their worth and quote them myself Its like a big big circle life.
