Need some jetting advice on which way to go or what to do?
Specs are YPVS 350 31k motor standard carbs Ram air filters Premix Coolhead Standard pipes BR8ES plugs
Jets are 300 mains Needles 4th from top 22.5 pilots air screws 2 turns out
Really rich until warmed up especially on one cylinder, plug black/fouling, thinking of dropping pilots to 20’s?

Think standard main jets are 240....

Are your carbs really clean and in good working order? Your pilots look too small now. Put everything back to standard and start with the 300 mains.

Pull the balls out the carbs and clean behind them as 22.5 pilot is way small for running filters
Usually have to go up 1 size not down

Check choke circuit too if running rich one side until warm.

Update : rode it to Germany, cdi and coil died in Rotterdam 18miles from Europoort, resulting in a 30 hour breakdown, now running lean, temp goes up when cracked open onto the main 🙃

Got a zeel off Norbo brought over on the ferry with a friend, wired it in that morning, continued onto Germany, got back yesterday
Where should I be on the jetting now chaps?

Update : rode it to Germany, cdi and coil died in Rotterdam 18miles from Europoort, resulting in a 30 hour breakdown, now running lean, temp goes up when cracked open onto the main 🙃 Strange that. I was contacted last week by Kees and he asked me if i had a CDI as someone had broken down in Rotterdam. Was that you? What is your jetting spec now?

Yes, Thursday/Friday morning was my breakdown
Currently on
22.5 pilot Needle 4th clip Mains 270
Warms up when opened up onto the main which tells me it’s lean?

might be too advanced on the timing ....... or even too retarded, both will cause the engine to heat up

Assuming 31k carbs - 27.5 pilot or 30 and 400 mains, lean jetting will end up with a holed piston, don’t ask how I know👎🏻

Plugs should be 9s really, but you are fouling 8s!!
Ramair filters flow loads more air than standard airbox, so as above, start at around 400 mains.

I am running B10EG plugs with 280 main jets and 25 pilot jets in 4L0-01 carbs. Modified Standard airbox with filter - has a lot bigger inlet!
Tuned 4L0 cylinders with TSA high revving pipes with peak power at 9800rpm. Zeeltronic Ignition.

My RD350Lc 1980 has allspeeds short cans, 4L0 00 carbs, Ramair pod filters, stock igniton and exhaust port raised to 25mm from top of cylinder. What jetting would you recommend?

Have your carbs had the Yamaha modifications done or are they original? The Ramair filters will need huge main jets!

I would start big on the main jet and work back. You don’t want to fry another set of pistons
