My 4L0 sits low in the back (as they do).
What are my options for raising the rear ride height that don't involve the purchase of a new YSS/Nitron/Hagon/etc shock (as I ain't got the $$$)?
I've seen on here somewhere that an SV650 shock fits but is 20mm(ish) longer.
Since everyone knows SV650 shocks are crap does that mean one of the shocks used to replace the crap SV650 one will fit the LC as well?
ZX636 shock seems a popular choice, and they are available for next to nothing on ebay, so thinking this may be a cheap Band-Aid fix til I can afford a proper YSS shocker.

I think NK racing do a bolt on, that raises the back end, check on his website

An Rd125Lc shock is about an inch longer than stock. The issues you have with shocks from bigger bikes is that the spring rate is often way off for a lighter Lc so the shock can often feel quite hard. Another thing to consider is some, if not most will need the mounting points modded to fit the Lc swingarm and frame mounts - not necessarily a big issue but still dependant on your ability to mod yourself or pay someone else which adds to the spend. Another way is to extend the mount the standard shock fits to. I think NK Racing used to make an extender for the swingarm - ugly but it did the job. My preference would be the YSS personally - a new shock designed for the bike will make a huge difference over a stock, or mismatched shock Dusty

I agree 100% with Dusty.
I actually bought a YSS for one of my bikes and am selling my RD125 shock as wanted an upgrade. Sadly no sense selling it overseas tho, may as well buy a YSS cos of Auspost, sigh. Of course RD126 shocks are not exactly tjhick on the ground these days either.
There was also a kit to rise the back of the bike wasnt there, some sort of spacers kit you put around the subframe I guess. i never looked into it but saw it years back.

Yes NK does do a jack up bracket i bought one a couple of years back, worked a treat and does raise the bike alittle. But they only fit with the original swinger. If memory serves me right it was about £60.👍

With the YSS there is a little amount of ride height adjustability. Also if you have the metmachek swinging arm you can use the concentric adjusters to raise the rear too.

The downside of the Eccentric adjusters on the Metmachex arms is the ride height changes everytime you adjust the chain. So you can set the spindle at the 6 o clock position to start but once you need to adjust the chain, the spindle will move from that position and gradually start to lower the back end. It will take many miles obviously, but it's not set for life like a longer shock absorber would be. The YSS have a +/- 5mm adjustable length, so you wont gain loads of height. Nitron and Hagon do adjustable length shocks but I think their adjustable range is the same as the YSS. Dusty

Does the yss shock adjust to longer than the 125lc one, Got a 125 shock in my lc and think it could benefit a bit more rear ride height, I will eventually get an aftermarket one I just need to find the right length.

I think the 125 Lc shock is 1" longer overall - hopefully someone will confirm. A standard 250/350Lc shock is 315mm eye to eye. The Yss cant lengthen by an inch. Dusty

YSS is 10mm I think it said when I got mine.
Remember raising the rear also means your stands wont work quite right, center stand can become useless etc.

Thanks for the info, might see if yss build an adjustable 125 shock. The stands won't be an issue I just use the centre stand when I'm building them

Er... Thats what Im saying. extend the rear shock and your c/stand wont work anymore... youre pushing the rear wheel down when you lengthen the shock.

I understand what you were saying, a piece of wood under the stand when I'm working on it and the stand is removed when I'm not

its not easy to remove the C/stand on an LC as the pin cant come out unless the exhausts are off.

A couple of nuts and bolts sorts the issue

Is this an issue of 'wanting the lc's ass end higher' Or trying to restore original ride heights? Raising the rear above stock has it's own issues.. instantly realised on the first subsequent ride. Care in what one wishes for :-)

As I ride 2 up all the time I try to get things so that ride height is maintained rather than raised, even so, if I say ride 1 up either to mot or trying something then the handling is compromised. Front ends can be tweaked to keep overall geometry. If it’s felt needed to raise the rear enough to render the stand redundant, then a couple of bits welded on could do the trick, also a bit more ground clearance is not a bad thing.
