These guys are f-----g nuts. The Manx is for amateurs doing it just because they want to. I have been 4 times and worked as pit crew 3 times for my brother in law and it is scary even in the pits waiting for your rider to come past. 1st year 2010 riding a VTR SP1 in one race he ran out of fuel at Hillberry only couple of miles from finish but you do not know that until some one lets you know, lesson learned brim tank up just as they go out onto start, 2nd race all good. 2011 all good then 2012 last race on the Friday day before getting married on the Saturday on the island crashed last lap due to fog and damp at the 32 mile post whilst in 12th position. Again we did not know until race control confirmed he was in the air ambulance on way to Nobles hospital. Man that was tense and even worse for wife and his mum and dad and sister all waiting in the grandstand. He still made it for the wedding but has definitely in pain and sore. Went back one last time in 2013 and thankfully has now called it a day on the island but we did do Tandgragee and Cookstown in 2015 - equally as scary. . Definitely not for me racing and I really doubt I would want to be pit crew again.Absolute top respect to these guys and the adrenaline rush must be unreal

In the 80's, I used to tuck a £5 note inside my boot and a box of fags taped to the inside of the fairing, just in-case I broke down near a pub !!! Weirdest practice day was breaking down on the TZ350 at the Waterworks, getting a lift back to the Grandstand then passing my stricken bike an hour later on the TZ250... Then an hour later picking up the TZ350 in the van. Didn't get to the pub til late and back up a 4am for the next practice session :-( IMG_1027 by Philip Mellor, on Flickr

Thanks for the video, that was Great!
Proper racing. I work for VRS Racing at both the TT & the Manx GP. As "richb" said earlier Pit crew can be a bit stressful at times, as we had 3 riders all in the same races Lightweight & Senior and trying not messing up their pit stop was interesting! Also watching their progress during practice and the races, & very relieved when they cross the line either practice or the races. Had 2 trips to Nobles luckily, only just broken & dislocated fingers, as said before its the waiting and not knowing if they are ok.
One of our riders Brad Vickers finished 3rd in the 2019 Senior Manx GP. He also became a member the "Tommy Club" having lapped over 120mph. He got 121.193mph lap on a Honda CBR 600. Sorry no onboard videos, however here’s a link to a few photos of the Manx Senior Race day, photo credits "Edgar Nunez" drive.google.com/drive/folders/1FkpkZDov1baworyUOAEhKfhofxFdcqV2www.flickr.com/photos/167921845@N05/albums/72157710673494386Best regards

Right up there as a favourite, Ian just rides the wheels off the 250.

Posted that elsewhere, that is what got me, danny webb nice kid on a rg500, ian lougher on a tz250m? leaves him, yes the tz is more advanced but it just shows you can't buy lap knowledge at the TT

I was surprised at the difference in riding style between the big 4 strokes and the tiny 2 strokes bikes ridden in the last video

Age means nowt! For me, its the ultimate bike event.
