It is recommended that you disconnect the battery before charging it. I would like to know why?
What happens if you don't disconnect it? What gets damaged, if anything? Has anyone tried it? If so, what happened?

I have got an Oxford Oximiser so I thought I should take a closer look at the instructions. Maybe I should have done that first You are right Scott. The Oxford Oximiser also has a fused permanent lead - now attached to my bike ;D. The only precautionary note is, "...ensure that there is no significant current draw, such as lights or ignition switched on. Excessive draw will prevent or slow the charging." That's alright then It's a pain getting the battery out of an F2 compared to other LCs. To gain access to the battery you've got to remove the seat and remove the grab rail before you can remove the side panel. Now, all I have to do is take the seat off, plug in the Oximiser and put the seat back on.

Cheers Gaz.
Twostroker, the Oximiser is about £28 at Amazon. I take your point about about buying a new battery. My bike gets very little use during winter so I use the Oximiser to trickle feed the battery during this period.

The reason that you disconect them is that the bubbles that build up can presherise the battery and split it when you move the bike and they all rush up putting acid all over everything . If you remove it yopu take the tops of dont you and put some toilet orllover the hols to stop the bubbles poping out the top .
The link up to your bike ones only use a trickl charge so its very low and you dont get a bubble build up .

Thanks Norbo.
Gaz, how often do you run the bike in Winter? Once a month, once a week?
