I always knew that man liked a "stroker" under his kilt. Just look at the smile on his face

Veg I looked up RD56 as I don’t know anything about them. Came up with an air cooled twin 250. I did however stumble upon an RD06 which was a 250 with v4 cylinders looking more like the photo above. I have no ides if it is though? Jon

At first i thought it was a Konig engine but if you look at the cylinder heads they have Morbidelli written on them.

Hi Veg No more info I'm afraid, but looking at it I'd guess Fzr front end and rear wheel - the disc on the rear wheel is too big for Rgv. Tzr 3ma swingarm ? And yes it's the Daytona model. Looks like HVC radial heads fitted with flatslide carbs and what looks like a 2 into 1 pipe. The next 400 I plan on building will have 3 spoke front and rear wheels, so I was pleased to find this pic, to get an idea of the look. The Yss twin shocks look lovely, but approx. £550 the pair Dusty

I think the aircooled bikes are great for modifying. The headstock dimensions are the same as an Lc/pv, so if it fits an Lc it will fit an Ac. Likewise, 200mm across the swingarm/frame pivot so an Lc swingarm slots straight into an Ac frame. I'm planning on twin shocks for the next one - means my builds have gone full circle and back to where it started with twin shocks, and I had priced up the Yss before I found this pic, but not actually seen them on a 400 before. The Ac engines are awesome although a bit "agricultural" compared to an Lc, but great nonetheless, full of character, and very "torquey". I think Mutts is planning on developing some pipes for the Ac bikes too, so that's good news. I've done a few Lc based hybrids now so I'm keen to do something different with an Ac hybrid, and that Daytona pic just confirms it for me Dusty

That looks like a rather wide front tyre on that aircooled.
I do wonder what to pair the 4.5” rear wheel I intend to use. I think I’ve got 2.75” , 3.0”? and 3.5”. Also what tyres to go with them?

Jon Cross thread chat here lol The rgv's and bandits used a 3 inch front coupled with a 110/70 tyre I have used a 110 on a 3.5 rim Steve

That really surprises me! Got a magazine from the early 80's about some company who made 2-1 exhausts for the RD250. Power down from stock everywhere and they went tits up pretty much straight away lol. I guess more modern tech has solved this issue but I still like the look of 2 pipes!
